About The Position

This is a fully in-person summer internship located in Germantown, Maryland. We are seeking a rising senior pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering. Interns will work full-time for a minimum of 12 weeks during the summer. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside our manufacturing engineers and gain hands-on exposure to a production ramp environment by supporting radar builds across multiple stations, working directly with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain. They will develop practical skills in time studies, line balancing, standard work/work instruction development, and implementing layout and material-flow improvements. The role also provides experience communicating data-driven recommendations and delivering measurable throughput and bottleneck-reduction results.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Rising senior, majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and have the ability to build a good network
  • Must be diligent, hardworking, and quick to learn
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with line balancing, time studies, and MTM methodologies is preferred
  • Familiarity with World Class Manufacturing, Toyota Production System and Lean practices is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with and assist engineers in the conduct of various engineering assignments
  • Carry out basic work instructions that will help in understanding the fundamentals of the Company and also learn new things
  • Conduct limited scope testing under the supervision of engineers
  • Complete assigned tasks on time
  • Gather and assemble data for engineers
  • May be required to help in research in a particular field
  • Conduct design analysis and/or calculations under the supervision of engineers
  • Assist engineers with appropriate design details
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and have the ability to build a good network
  • Perform a wide variety of tasks to gain familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, programs and practices
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Other duties as assigned
