About the Team Team Focus: Our HCM Integrations team delivers the technical backbone for global Workday implementations. We specialize in building intelligent, AI-powered integrations that go beyond standard data transfers. Utilizing modern tools like Sana, Flowise and Pipedream, we drive efficiency across the full development life cycle, providing our customers with scalable and extensible solutions across the entire Workday HCM, Payroll, and Benefits ecosystem. Organizational Context: Sitting within North America Professional Services, this team acts as the technical consulting bridge between Workday’s core product capabilities and our customers' complex People and Payroll ecosystems. Mission: Our mission is to engineer the technical framework and AI-driven innovations that allow our customers to realize the full value of a unified cloud architecture. By harmonizing complex data ecosystems with intelligent automation, we transform the Workday HCM suite into a resilient, high-performance foundation for the world’s largest organizations. About the Role Core Objective: As a Sr. Technical Consultant, you will serve as the primary technical architect and lead developer for the HCM integration workstream. You will drive end-to-end project implementation and delivery, balancing hands-on technical execution—coding and configuring within the Workday ecosystem—with high-level strategic advisory. You are responsible for the full delivery lifecycle, from initial technical discovery and architectural design to final deployment, while guiding customers on long-term technical strategy and the adoption of AI-driven orchestration. System Interaction: You will architect integrations between Workday’s full HCM suite and external platforms to deliver seamless experiences for our customers. By leveraging agentic AI and automation, you will optimize the flow of sensitive employee data, ensuring that technical touchpoints are high-integrity and designed to significantly reduce manual intervention while maintaining 100% data accuracy. Customer/Stakeholder Interaction: You serve as a Strategic Technical Advisor to customer IT leadership and their HRMS teams. Internally, you act as the Technical Consulting bridge for HCM Functional Consultants, translating our product-based business requirements into robust, agentic technical architectures.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of demonstrated integration or technical experience in Workday HCM or 8+ years in technical ERP (ie. SAP, Oracle, Workday, Peoplesoft) domains such as but not limited to Benefits, Payroll, Time Tracking, Learning or Recruiting.
  • 4+ years of experience consulting as an Advisory Lead or Architect on large-scale customer implementations.
  • Hands-on experience with REST APIs and modern authentication/authorization (OAuth, OIDC, SAML).
  • Proficiency in at least one relevant programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, SQL).
  • AI Fluency: Familiarity with AI concepts, including LLM and MCP integration and agentic workflow design.

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive technical knowledge of JSON, API governance, and Middleware technology.
  • Experience with AI products and platforms e.g., Sana, Flowise, Claude, or similar and designing/implementing LLM-based applications or orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience with data platforms or ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems (MIS) or similar information technology degrees.
  • Relevant Certifications: Workday Pro Integrations Certification, or AI-related PaaS certifications.
  • Experience in the Architecture, Design, and Build of enterprise integration solutions.
  • You should have deep proficiency in technical integration tooling and industry-leading IPaaS platforms such as MuleSoft, Boomi, Workato, or similar middleware ecosystems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery sessions with HCM/PAY domain specialists to assemble requirements and deliver accurate technical documentation.
  • Architect and build scalable PaaS solutions and integration designs that adhere to best practices and are optimized for high-volume.
  • Hands-on Development: Design, build, and document high-complexity agentic integration solutions using the latest Workday tooling and AI capabilities as they evolve.
  • AI Implementation: Design and deploy secure AI-driven workflows and agentic designs, ensuring strict adherence to data governance and PII security standards.
  • Coordinate assigned deliverable schedules to ensure client timelines are met while providing expert guidance on integration strategy.
  • Explain complex AI and integration concepts in simple terms to both technical developers and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Mentor and coach junior consultants, proactively sharing knowledge on integration design patterns and best practices.
  • Engage in the sales cycle where appropriate to help scope complex HCM integration projects.
