About The Position

The salary range for this position is $80,000.00 -$95,000.00 depending on experience, with bonus opportunity. This Senior Tax Analyst role focuses on sales and use tax, ensuring timely compliance with State and Local tax law by reviewing 3rd party prepared tax returns. Key responsibilities also include preparing general ledger reconciliations for various tax accounts, assisting with new product/service taxability determinations, staying updated on tax law changes, and analyzing audit findings to reduce liabilities. The role also involves interdepartmental training and acting as the main point of contact for tax software maintenance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (experience in related field in lieu of education accepted)
  • 5+ year’s relevant experience in tax research, tax return preparation or public accounting experience, working closely with tax.
  • Excellent communication skills paired with the ability to work well within team and both internal/external customers.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills to include understanding of the following: VLOOKUP, pivot tables, complex/advanced functions.
  • Working knowledge of SAP (or other ERP framework).
  • Ability to review and document advanced processes to create efficiencies and develop best practices.
  • Working knowledge of Avalara (Cert Capture and AvaTax).
  • Multi-task talented with the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Ability to exercise considerable judgement with tax issues and planning activities.
  • Strong understanding of sales and use taxation paired with other tax type experiences.
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Review 3rd party prepared tax returns to ensure timely compliance with State and Local tax law per assigned jurisdictions regarding multiple tax types.
  • Prepare general ledger reconciliations for tax accounts associated with Sales/Use, GST/HST, PST/QST, Income Tax and Property Tax.
  • Assist team members in performing duties related to new product/service taxability determination for both purchases and sales made by Karcher North America, Inc.
  • Maintain knowledge and documentation of tax law changes for various tax types.
  • Review and prepare analysis of audit findings to reduce audit liabilities in working directly with tax authorities.
  • Perform interdepartmental training to build stronger relationships and establish best practices.
  • Main point of contact for tax software related maintenance and updates.
  • Complete special projects based departmental needs
