About The Position

WOW! is currently hiring a Senior Tax Analyst! For work from home positions, employees can sit in one of the following states: AL, AZ, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, MI, OH, SC, TN and TX. The Senior Tax Analyst is responsible for helping WOW! ensure compliance in all aspects of transaction tax liabilities by preparing data files to ensure accurate and timely tax return filings and other reports across the states WOW! operates in pursuant to Federal, state, and local rules and regulations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant tax or accounting experience.
  • MS Office software (Excel, Word, SharePoint), NetSuite, AnyBill, Tableau, FloQast, Adobe Professional, Internet, and database software
  • Able to effectively manage multiple priorities, work independently and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of compliance process and account reconciliation concepts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel
  • Demonstrated experience with building strong working relationships both inside and outside the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed reviews with a high degree of accuracy
  • Highly organized and analytical professional with strong computer and data analysis skills, including the ability to identify month-over-month variances and trends.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing tax expertise through continuous learning, analytical review, and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze new tax laws, regulations, reporting requirements, and court cases, and implement those that impact the tax compliance
  • Prepare and download transaction tax data files and bad debt for filing tax returns
  • Analyze transaction tax returns (e.g., sales and use, business and occupation, gross receipts, telecommunications, TRS & 911) for accuracy and payment remittances prepared by third party
  • Prepare, review and analyze monthly activity and vendors for consumers use tax reporting including account reconciliation and journal entries
  • Address internal questions on how to categorize invoices for use tax reporting
  • Monitor property taxes and prepare funding requests to ensure timely payments via AnyBill
  • Review and prepare property tax, prepaid expenses, and Tax Department specific expense accounts general ledger reconciliations and journal entries
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance tax process documentation to support operational efficiency, audits, risk management, and business continuity planning.
  • Develop and maintain tax calendars to ensure that commitments are met.
  • Evaluate the tax effect and implications of business strategies, contemplated transactions, and business proposals to properly advise management
  • Review and process customer tax exemption requests in accordance with applicable tax regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain vendor tax exemption certificates and supporting documentation.
  • Assign and maintain accurate tax category classifications during new vendor setup and ongoing vendor changes.
  • Review vendor tax category assignments changes uploaded by peers in NetSuite
  • Prepare, track, and maintain business license renewals across applicable jurisdictions.
  • Provide support for state and local audits by performing analytics on data and researching positions
  • Responsible for the follow-up and resolution of tax notices and correspondence from federal, state and local tax authorities
  • Contribute to special projects as necessary
  • Build and maintain relationships with other key departments including accounting, legal, internal audit, human resources, and the regional offices
  • Other duties as assigned
