Senior Tax Analyst provides general tax accounting support including proper posting of tax account information to the general ledger. Provides audit support to both sales/Use and property tax. Supports sales tax and property tax filings. Does monthly tax reconciliation, Key attribute is accuracy and timeliness. Candidate should have a good understanding of GAAP.

Requirements

  • Requires a BS/ BA in Accounting or Finance concentration, master’s degree or CMI preferred.
  • 4+ years as a tax analyst I
  • 3+ years of multi state experience
  • 2+ years working with various Tax systems such as vertex/ Avalara/ Sure tax.
  • Multi-state compliance and analysis essential
  • Strong understanding of sales use and property tax regulations and compliance essential
  • Ability to interpret tax regulations essential

Responsibilities

  • Files Unclaimed property returns
  • Prepares tax journal entries
  • Calculates and prepares tax accrual entries when needed.
  • Reconciles tax activity in general ledger.
  • Reconciles assigned balance sheet accounts.
  • Files personal property renditions and payments.
  • Files for state licenses.
  • Prepares sales and property tax filings.
  • Registers new market(s) with Secretary of state/ county/ city.
  • Processes invoices for fire inspections/ business licenses.
  • Performs sales tax corrections daily as needed.
  • Completes other projects and special assignments as requested by supervisor and/or Senior Management, maintains exemption certification database as required.
  • Problem solving and collaboration with other teams is required.
  • Complete all required training modules and certifications prior to the due date.
  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed to ensure a safe work environment for all.
  • Communicate professionally with all internal and external contacts.
  • Follow all Company policies and execute Company standards on appearance and functionality as well as appropriate brand representation.
  • Communicate any concerns or issues to leadership to ensure proper efficiency of department and company operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
