About The Position

You will join our U.S compliance tax team which is a part of our Global Tax Department. Global Tax plays a critical role in managing tax strategies and compliance for a diverse portfolio of operations across multiple regions. As part of a dynamic, highly skilled group, you will collaborate with tax professionals worldwide, working on complex tax issues to support the company’s global business objectives. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a global tax function in a fast-paced, multinational environment. This role covers the full spectrum of corporate income and franchise tax responsibilities—including federal, state, and local compliance, quarterly estimates, extensions, and audit support—while also playing a key role in Lam’s tax technology, process automation, and tax‑incentive programs. The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating complex tax data, leveraging modern tax‑technology tools, and driving process improvements. In addition to core compliance responsibilities, this role supports tax credit and incentive initiatives, including R&D credit analyses, investment tax credits, and business‑support activities tied to government incentive programs. The position reports directly to a Senior Tax Manager and collaborates closely with various tax subgroups, Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Legal, and external advisors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master of Taxation and/or CPA strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 2+ years of tax experience in public accounting and/or a large corporate tax department, with a focus on U.S. federal and state income tax compliance.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and state tax laws, with the ability to interpret and apply evolving legislation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with strong data‑management and analytical capabilities.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to data integrity.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on multi-functional teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with OneSource, SAP, or similar tax‑compliance platforms preferred.
  • Familiarity with Alteryx, Power BI, Bloomberg, or similar automation/analytics tools considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review U.S. federal, state, and local income and franchise tax returns using OneSource Income Tax, ensuring complete supporting workpapers and audit-ready documentation.
  • Prepare and review federal, state, and franchise tax extensions and estimated tax payments.
  • Gather, validate, and analyze financial data to compute book‑to-tax differences and support quarterly and annual tax provision workpapers.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of R&D tax credit studies, including data gathering, process documentation, and coordination with external service providers.
  • Support analyses of investment tax credits, manufacturing incentives, energy‑related credits, and other applicable federal or state incentives.
  • Participate in incentive-related modeling, documentation, and submission packages to maximize Lam’s credit and incentive position.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders (e.g., R&D, Operations, Finance) to facilitate data needs for incentive claims and ensure audit‑ready support.
  • Prepare responses, data packages, and supporting documentation for federal and state audit inquiries.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of audit readiness, compliance controls, and documentation standards.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of OneSource Income Tax, including supporting system updates and performing light user testing.
  • Use available tools such as Excel, Power Query, Alteryx, or Power BI to help streamline recurring workpaper preparation, data transformation, or validation steps.
  • Assist in standardizing templates, improving workflow efficiency, and supporting small-scale automation initiatives that enhance federal compliance accuracy and productivity.
  • Collaborate with Finance and IT teams to strengthen tax data readiness and documentation of U.S. tax compliance processes.
  • Partner with IT and Finance teams to strengthen tax‑data infrastructure, mapping, and controls.
  • Conduct research on federal and state tax issues, including legislative changes and relevant tax-audit trends.
  • Stay current on evolving tax laws and emerging tax‑technology capabilities, including compliance digitization and data‑driven reporting.
  • Participate in tax and technology training programs to enhance professional development.
  • Work closely with partners across Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, IT, Legal, and other functional groups to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting.
  • Support cross-functional projects, including business incentive initiatives and digital finance transformation programs.
