About The Position

About the Role: The Tax Accountant will assist the Tax Manager with the Bank’s tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax planning which includes adhering to all federal, state and local tax laws and filing requirements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. The Tax Accountant will be responsible for preparing or assisting with the Bank’s annual federal, state and local income tax returns as well as monthly, quarterly or annual use and property tax returns. This position reports to the Tax Manager. About You: Education Associate's degree in accounting, Finance or Business (preferred) Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or Business (preferred) Experience 4-5 years — of relevant work experience. (Required) Skills Ability to work effectively with individuals and as part of a team. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft products and/or tax software, and other business office machines. Experience with OneSource Income Tax and Oracle Peoplesoft a plus. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. Significant experience, knowledge and understanding of US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and internal controls. Ability to plan, prioritize, organize, and execute assigned tasks. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing. Ability to work effectively with individuals and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares federal, state, and local income tax returns.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual sales/use tax returns as well as WA B&O tax returns.
  • Prepares quarterly income tax estimates and payments.
  • Assists with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual income tax provision.
  • Assists with preparation for and responses to tax examinations, and internal and independent audits.
  • Assists with the annual preparation of personal property tax returns for the bank.
  • Assists with projects and project support as directed.
  • Perform duties in accordance with all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job specific training.
  • Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training.
  • Keeps up to date on regulation changes.
  • Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description.
  • May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.
