As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will take the lead on complex tax and accounting engagements, ensuring the quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of all work products. You will serve as a trusted technical resource for the team, applying your advanced accounting and tax knowledge to resolve challenges, guide decision-making, and uphold firm standards. You will mentor and support staff, helping develop their technical skills and professional growth. You will also play a key role in strengthening internal processes, enhancing workflow efficiency, and contributing to leadership initiatives that drive continuous improvement across the firm.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and tax experience, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Active CPA license required.
  • Strong, up-to-date technical knowledge of accounting principles and tax regulations.
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting and tax software, along with the ability to learn new platforms quickly.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a demonstrated track record of mentoring and developing team members.
  • Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly

Responsibilities

  • Oversee complex tax and accounting matters, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards.
  • Review financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure completeness and compliance.
  • Prepare and review advanced individual and business tax returns across a variety of entity types.
  • Lead tax research on complex issues and apply findings to client-specific situations.
  • Support advanced tax planning initiatives and provide strategic advisory guidance.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor for clients, acting as a primary point of contact for complex questions and issues.
  • Proactively identify risks, opportunities, and process improvements that benefit client operations and financial outcomes.
  • Communicate complex accounting and tax matters in a clear, professional, and client-friendly manner.
  • Review work prepared by Staff Accountants and other Senior Accountants to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to strengthen team skills and capabilities.
  • Ensure the team’s adherence to firm standards, policies, and deadlines.
  • Assist with the onboarding and training of new team members to support smooth integration into the firm.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance accounting and tax workflows for greater efficiency and accuracy.
  • Contribute to developing documentation, standardized procedures, and best practices.
  • Support leadership on special projects and firm-wide initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.
