About The Position

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training. As a Senior Task Lead and Solutions Architect with AMERICAN SYSTEMS you will have the opportunity to do the following: Lead a cross-functional team of prime and subcontractor staff, fostering collaboration and accountability in support of Government Agency operational goals. Act as the primary point of contact between Government leadership, Uniformed Members, and project delivery teams, championing customer success. Provide senior-level consultancy and technical expertise, advising Government stakeholders on operational improvements, strategy, and best practices. Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non-technical audiences, including Government leadership and front-line personnel. Develop and deliver innovative solutions to operational challenges, from initial concept through to implementation and sustainment. Manage project scope, schedule, resources, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with Government priorities and contract requirements. Identify risks and opportunities; proactively recommend solutions and corrective actions to address challenges and maximize mission impact. Lead requirements gathering, workflow analysis, and solution design sessions with Government stakeholders and team members. Oversee quality assurance, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives in partnership with Government customers. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among all project stakeholders, ensuring transparency and timely issue resolution. Prepare reports, briefings, and presentations for executive-level audiences, translating technical data into mission-relevant insights. Mentor and guide junior consultants and team members, promoting a culture of thought leadership, professional growth, and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • CBP BI or Top Secret Clearance is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM field with 12+ years of experience; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Previous experience with Department of Homeland Security.
  • Previous experience in Systems Engineering and Acquisition.
  • Understanding the Systems Engineering and Acquisition Lifecycles at DHS, CBP preferred (e.g., ALF, MD-102).
  • Familiarity with IEEE standard 1012.
  • Excellent writing, communications, and briefing skills.
  • Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and effective decision-making.
  • Skilled in planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks.
