About The Position

About this Role Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Systems Operations Engineer within our Technology organization. This role supports mission‑critical payments platforms that enable secure, reliable, and high‑volume transaction processing across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will bring strong systems engineering expertise, operational discipline, and the ability to operate effectively in a highly regulated financial environment, ensuring the stability, availability, and performance of enterprise systems and infrastructure. In This Role, You Will: Lead or participate in managing all installed systems and infrastructure within the Systems Operations functional area Support mission‑critical, high‑availability payments platforms and real-time transaction processing systems Contribute to increasing system efficiency and reducing human intervention through automation and process improvements Review and analyze moderately complex operational support systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of availability and reliability Act as a senior escalation point for production issues and incident resolution Work with vendors and internal technical personnel to diagnose issues and drive timely problem resolution Lead teams to meet technical deliverables, leveraging a solid understanding of technical process controls, standards, and best practices Collaborate across engineering, infrastructure, and platform teams to achieve optimal systems and infrastructure availability Create and maintain operational documentation, procedures, and runbooks Ensure systems adhere to security, risk, and regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • 4+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting payments platforms or high‑availability, real-time transaction systems
  • Proficiency with Linux/Unix administration, performance diagnostics, and log analysis
  • Hands‑on experience with monitoring and alerting tools, such as Splunk, AppDynamics, Grafana, Prometheus, Elastic, or similar
  • Familiarity with ITIL-aligned incident and problem management practices
  • Scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell) supporting automation and process optimization
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, APIs, middleware technologies, and event-driven systems
  • Exposure to cloud or hybrid infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a focus on reliability and system stability
  • Excellent collaboration skills for working across engineering teams and vendor partners
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast‑paced, highly regulated financial services environment
