About The Position

ECS is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to work in our Washington, DC office.  Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.   The Senior Systems Engineer will support the Department of Justice, responsible for designing, securing, and optimizing enterprise‑level infrastructure for DOJ operations. This role spans end‑to-end systems architecture, administration, and performance management across server, virtualization, storage, and Microsoft client technologies. It includes leading incident response, ensuring federal security and compliance, maintaining comprehensive technical documentation, and evaluating emerging technologies to drive modernization. Success depends on close collaboration with cross‑functional engineering teams and providing seamless support during operational and contract transitions to ensure high availability, continuity, and mission readiness

Requirements

  • Active Top-Secret clearance (TS/SCI is preferred)
  • 100% onsite
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in systems engineering, including hands-on experience with enterprise-level systems design, deployment, and management.
  • Specific work experience in providing IT program support for the Federal Government is required
  • Must possess industry and subject matter expertise with Microsoft desktop client technologies and supporting software, as well as experience and working knowledge of all hardware and software in the DOJ environment
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • CompTIA Server+ or Security+
  • ITIL Foundation or higher

Responsibilities

  • Systems Design & Architecture: Plan, design, configure, and maintain enterprise server environments, virtualization platforms, storage solutions, and related infrastructure in support of DOJ OCIO IT NCS operations.
  • Systems Administration & Optimization: Manage, monitor, and optimize system performance across Microsoft desktop client technologies, supporting software, and all hardware and software identified in the DOJ OCIO IT environment
  • Incident Response & Troubleshooting: Develop, maintain, monitor, and support all system alerts; respond to and remediate systems issues, providing detailed reporting on all notifications.
  • Security & Compliance: Coordinate with Information Systems Security Officers (ISSOs) and Cybersecurity Engineers to ensure all systems comply with federal security requirements and DOJ policies.
  • Emerging Technologies: Stay current with emerging technologies and assess their potential impact to the Department, recommending improvements and modernization strategies
  • Documentation & Reporting: Develop and maintain comprehensive systems documentation including architecture diagrams, configuration records, standard operating procedures, and change management records.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Network Engineers, Solutions Architects, SIEM Engineers, Virtual Desktop Engineers, and other cross-functional team members to ensure seamless integration, availability, and performance of all IT systems.
  • Transition Support: Support transition planning and execution, ensuring continuity of service and minimal disruption during contract transitions
