And together, we're redefining the future of aerospace. We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to work onsite in St. Petersburg, FL. This position requires an active US Secret Security clearance. You will join a team of talented engineers with the responsibility of defining the requirements, design, and architecture of subsystems that comprise the Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) product line, located in St. Petersburg, Florida, as part of Advanced Networking Solutions (ANS). The U.S. Navy’s CEC, a real-time ‘sensor-netting’ system that brings together radar data into a single integrated air picture from geographically dispersed ships, aircraft, and ground-based units. Requirements

  • Proven experience in the full system lifecycle, including requirements development, system design, integration, verification, and validation.
  • Hands-on experience in the operation, test, and troubleshooting of software on target hardware and/or complex military systems.
  • Experience with Agile development, including project estimating, reporting, and backlog management.
  • Proficiency in using requirements management tools, such as DOORS, for linking requirements to design, test, and verification artifacts.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the operation, integration, and troubleshooting of naval systems or other complex defense systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute integration, verification, and validation planning documentation, including test plans, procedures, and reports.
  • Proficiency in programming (e.g., C/C++, Python) and familiarity with Linux operating systems, DevSecOps pipelines, and Test-Driven Development (TDD) or Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) methodologies.
  • Experience with automated test scripting and automated data analysis to streamline verification and validation processes.
  • Experience with MBSE tools such as Rhapsody, Cameo, or MagicDraw for system modeling and simulation.
  • Strong data analysis skills, including interpretation of results, identification of corrective actions, and monitoring of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) or Technical Performance Measures (TPMs).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support requirements development, system-level designs, and system-level models using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles.
  • Develop and manage testable requirements and associated verification approaches, ensuring traceability through the entire engineering lifecycle.
  • Perform system architecture development, subsystem design, and detailed component/system analysis to ensure alignment with customer needs and technical performance.
  • Execute integration and test activities in-house or at site locations, including hardware/software integration, troubleshooting, and operational testing.
  • Develop and execute robust verification and validation plans, including automated test execution and data analysis using tools like Python, MATLAB, and other scripting languages.
  • Apply systems and software modeling and simulation tools to support design trade-offs, performance analysis, and risk mitigation.
  • Utilize DOORS to manage the complete life cycle of requirements, including Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Change Notices (CNs), and traceability to tests and verification results.
  • Attend and contribute to internal and external Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) to ensure effective configuration management.
  • Collaborate with Program and Customer Leadership, as well as cross-functional teams, to define and achieve program objectives.
  • Drive innovative approaches to problem-solving, including the use of DevSecOps pipelines, Agile methodologies, and model-based approaches for design and test.
