Johnson & Johnson MedTech is currently recruiting for Senior Systems Engineer - MedTech. The position is located in Santa Clara, CA & will work a Flex/Hybrid schedule with 3 days per week on-site. Relocation assistance may be available for the chosen candidate. Purpose: The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the system level design and integration of capital equipment products that consist of electrical and electro-mechanical subsystems. You will lead multi-functional teams to design and develop groundbreaking medical devices! You will understand the system from both a technical perspective and the user’s viewpoint, and drive definition and development of the Monarch system. We are looking for a candidate who can work independently and function well within a team. Requirements

  • BS/BA Degree in Biomedical, Electrical, Computer Science, Mechanical or any related engineering field is required. Advanced degree is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years’ experience or an advanced degree with 3+ years’ experience is required.
  • Strong proficiencies with at least one engineering field, i.e., mechanical, electrical, software, robotics, or computer science etc.is required.
  • Good understanding of system lifecycle phases and design control processes
  • Knowledge of FDA and ISO regulations is required
  • Experience writing requirements for complex electromechanical systems is required.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% may be required.
  • Proficiency with Python, C++, or MATLAB is required.
  • Ability to participate in highly technical discussions and act as a liaison with cross-functional teams is required.
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a multifunctional team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in medical device industry is strongly preferred.
  • FDA CFR Part 820 and/or ISO 13485 knowledge is preferred.
  • Experience working with DFMEAs or other risk analysis tools is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams to tie all aspects of the system together and meet program goals
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical/marketing, program management, and the engineering design teams
  • Translate clinical and business needs to system requirements
  • Generate use cases, trade studies, and risk assessments to facilitate systematic trade-off decisions and robust engineering solutions
  • Develop test methods to accurately characterize, and verify the system design against performance requirements
  • Build prototypes and fixtures for data acquisition and analysis
  • Work cross-disciplinarily to provide hands-on system troubleshooting and debugging
  • Utilize sound engineering methods and documentation processes to perform design reviews and failure mode analyses
