About The Position

Acts as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for administration of Windows Active Directory environment and the Microsoft 365 Cloud to include Teams. Responsible for the support of complex Windows AD/IIS systems and troubleshooting problem as required. Collaborates with Windows Systems Architects on new initiatives and systems as well as support of current production environment. Manages file and print and application servers, including creating accounts in multiple domains, creating print queues, troubleshooting webservers, and resolving issues. Registers and maintains domains with the various registrars. Incumbent in this position is responsible for enterprise level user and organizational unit management in different Active Directory Domain environments. Applies specific professional and technical knowledge to perform assignments that are broadly defined and require judgment and creativity to complete. Independently solves a full range of problems requiring the identification and analysis of complex variables. Takes action to solve problems/issues that routinely arise in areas of assigned responsibility, but may receive guidance or expertise from higher-level staff on more complex problems. Establishes processes/procedures to ensure the effective and efficient operation of function. Serves as a technical resource across multiple disciplines. May provide work direction to lower level employees.

Requirements

  • Full working knowledge of Microsoft Back Office products such as SCCM, and SQL databases.
  • Full working knowledge and experience on Administration of Cloud Based accounts and Cloud Computing Services (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS) to include Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with most phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities.
  • Strong understanding of DNS.
  • Solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts.
  • Good customer service & troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong ability to program in in PowerShellr.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to solve problems of substantial variety and complexity.
  • Ability to undertake tasks broad in nature, requiring ingenuity, and originality.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent knowledge.
  • Five years of related professional work experience in an information technology environment including Microsoft Windows and Networking.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with UNIX and Linux User Administration preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified Engineer (MCSE) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Systems Administration: Service as SME in User Account Administration, Group Policy Administration, Directory Permissions, Active Directory Domain/OU Administration, MS Exchange User Administration, and Public Folder administration both On-Prem and in the Cloud.
  • Leads efforts in Login Script Development, and Administration.
  • Manages outbound facing Website registration and redirects of internal sites as needed.
  • Programs complex scripts for scheduled jobs.
  • Manages and maintains IP Management of the Academies Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and DNS.
  • Manages network printers, queues, Domain Name System (DNS) updates, account administration, and Web server Redirects.
  • Manages RSA's SecurID user accounts, hard and soft token activation and distribution.
  • Manages Internal and External Certificates of the different systems.
  • Manages Remote user access accounts, and permissions within the internal Network.
  • Participates in change management process, and administer multiple systems.
  • Manages, allocates, and monitors disk space usage across all National Academies' file servers.
  • Manages MS System Center Configuration Manager, and keeps workstations updated in Infoblox, and AD.
  • Collaborates with Windows Systems Architects on new initiatives and systems as well as support of current production environment.
  • Problem Solving: Monitors trouble ticket system administration reports on a daily basis to ensure service level agreement (SLA) compliance.
  • May perform UNIX and or Linux User Administration.
  • Collaborates with database administrators (DBAs) and other members of the UNIX/DBA group on UNIX-related matters.
  • Documents and Reporting: May create documentation outlining work processes, user guides, and user manuals, etc.
  • May develop and maintain user training programs.
  • Produces, analyzes, and summarizes reports as required.
  • Creates scripts in Java, and Perl in support of applications.
  • Research and Assessment: Researches and implements new software and its uses for UNIX servers.
  • Proactively identifies notable trends in systems administration.
  • Provides advice and guidance on products and new ways of applying technology to the work of the organization.

When handling secure, privileged, sensitive, or confidential information and matters, maintains strict confidence and exercises care to prevent disclosure to others. Accesses confidential information for work-related reasons only, following the policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures that any privileged, sensitive, or confidential information is securely stored, disposed of, and transmitted according to the Institutional guidance.
