Requirements

  • Strong skills in monitoring and maintaining computer infrastructure, particularly emphasizing:(On-site servers, Interactions between the software and the network, network server integrity, and resilience.)
  • Strong knowledge and fundamental understanding of core networking protocols, network routing, DNS, DHCP, TCPIP, and Ethernet technologies.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with SANs, HBA’s, iSCSI.
  • Advanced knowledge of systems monitoring tools.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Windows, VMware and Linux Operating systems.
  • Works with Database Administrator to ensure all files and data storage areas are configured and sized to provide for optimal user access within the parameters of system hardware.
  • Shares responsibilities for ensuring optimal database performance with Database Administrator.
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow ITIL best practices.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes, including ITIL change, incident, problem, and service level management.
  • Strong knowledge of data recovery for Windows, Linux, VMware platforms, and cloud-based platforms.
  • Ability to adapt to changing department needs and shift workload to accommodate those needs.
  • Ability to effectively present and offer innovative ideas, new methods, trends and solutions to the advancement of the organization.
  • Ability to analyze complex projects and move forward with minimal direction or supervision.
  • Ability to clearly articulate and formally report potential benefits from both structural and incremental change.

  • A valid Colorado driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required.
  • Bachelors Degree (BA, BS, BBA) Education Major Information Systems, Technology or related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Eight (8) years’ experience in system administration, installation of operating systems, new releases, upgrades, and Active Directory administration required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of ITIL principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge of PII, HIPAA, PCI, and CJIS security requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Selects appropriate design standards, methods, and tools that are consistent with enterprise and solution architectures and ensure they are applied effectively.
  • Contributes to policy for selection of server architecture components.
  • Evaluates and analyzes the impact on major design options and assesses and manages associated risks.
  • Ensures the system design balances functional, service quality, security, and systems management requirements.
  • Responsible for significant aspects of server specifications and designs within the organization.
  • Responsible for installation of projects, providing effective team leadership, including information flow to and from the customer and IT staff during project work.
  • Drafts and maintains procedures and documentation for system support.
  • Contributes significantly to investigating, diagnosing, and resolving network system/server problems.
  • Seeks to fully address the client's needs by ensuring that proposed solutions are properly understood and appropriately deployed.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of installations and ensures that appropriate recommendations for change are made.
  • Supports arrangements for disaster recovery together with supporting processes and manages the testing of such plans.
  • Monitors service component capacity and initiates actions to resolve any shortfalls.
  • Ensures that all requests for support are handled according to set standards and procedures.
  • Oversees the provision of specialized advice by others.
  • Consolidates expertise from multiple sources, including third-party experts, to provide coherent advice that furthers organizational objectives.
  • Supports and promotes the development and sharing of specialized knowledge within the organization.
  • Maintains recognized expert-level knowledge in systems.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of information technologies and provides expert advice regarding their application.
  • Assesses, analyzes, develops, documents, and implements changes based on requests for change.
  • Follows agreed procedures and identifies, registers, and categorizes incidents.
  • Gathers information to enable incident resolution and promptly allocates incidents as appropriate.
  • Logs incidents, change requests, and service requests and maintains relevant records.
  • Travels to and attends team and organizational meetings, training, events and activities and appropriately and professionally represents the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
