About The Position

As a Senior IT Generalist/Systems Administrator at TeraWave, you will provide essential IT infrastructure support and services to enable our business operations. Your expertise in managing Windows and Linux environments, virtualization platforms, and cloud services will ensure our team members have reliable access to the tools and resources they need. You'll maintain our internal networks, implement security protocols, and provide timely technical support to resolve issues that impact productivity. Working within our IT team, you'll handle system administration tasks, automate routine processes, and document configurations to maintain operational stability. Your contributions will create the stable technical foundation that allows TeraWave's employees to collaborate effectively and focus on their core responsibilities without technology disruptions.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in systems administration, with proven troubleshooting and maintenance capabilities
  • Solid Windows Server and Active Directory experience
  • Strong Linux foundations and administration skills
  • Experience with hypervisor technologies (VMWare, Harvester, HyperV)
  • Demonstrated cloud services experience (AWS, Azure, or equivalent)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and time-management skills
  • Experience with Splunk or similar monitoring/logging solutions

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise IT environments
  • Experience supporting mission-critical infrastructure in aerospace, telecommunications, or similar high-reliability industries
  • Advanced knowledge of networking concepts (routing, switching, firewalls)
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Relevant certifications such as: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Associate (MCSA) Linux Professional Institute (LPI) LPIC-1 Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) CompTIA Server+ or Network+

Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Management: Install, configure, and maintain servers (physical and virtual), network hardware, and operating systems that support TeraWave's satellite communications network operations
  • System Security & Backups: Implement security protocols, manage firewalls, and perform regular data backups and disaster recovery procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of mission-critical systems
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance metrics (CPU, memory, disk usage) to identify potential bottlenecks and ensure high availability of all IT resources supporting TeraWave operations
  • User Support: Manage user accounts, permissions, and Active Directory/LDAP to maintain appropriate access controls across the organization
  • Automation: Create and maintain scripts in PowerShell, Bash, or Python to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive, up-to-date documentation for system configurations and procedures to ensure knowledge transfer and operational continuity
  • Collaboration: Work closely with network engineers, software developers, and satellite operations teams to ensure IT infrastructure meets the demanding requirements of TeraWave's communications network
