Meet the Team: Join our SW Systems and Safety - Behaviors & Autonomy Team, where we work at the forefront of autonomous trucking and L4 systems. Our team collaborates across safety, systems engineering, product, V&V, mapping, AI-ML, and SW teams to ensure that safety frameworks are met (e.g. FuSa, SOTIF, AI-Safety, etc.), reducing functional and behavioral insufficiencies and ensuring a robust autonomous vehicle platform. We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with a background in Data Analysis and Statistics who is experienced with Functional Safety, SOTIF, AI Safety, and passionate about safety-critical systems, risk assessment, and verification & validation strategies. In this role, you will lead ODD strategies and ODD characterization by leveraging Python and MATLAB scripts and C++ modules, safety assessments, risk analyses, and safety improvements, helping shape the future of autonomous trucking technology.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate competences and technical proficiencies acquired through: BS+ 6+ years of experience, MS+ 3+ years of experience, or PHD 1+ years of experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in hardware, software, or systems engineering, robotics or related technical fields
  • A hyper sense of attention to detail with an iterative approach in completing enterprise goal s
  • Experience with C/C++ or Python
  • Familiarity with Cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Ability to understand complex technical systems
  • Ability to adapt and operate under ambiguity
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal & written)

  • Professional experience in the Self-Driving Industry
  • Strong background in autonomous vehicle safety assessments
  • Experience in systems analysis and design or data analytics

Responsibilities

  • Quantitatively and qualitatively compare multiple operating environments to help refine the ODD (operational design domain)
  • Identify data sources and initiate data collection efforts for assessing operating environments
  • Work at the highest levels of abstraction within the product to define design goals and their objectives or key performance indicators
  • Design safety-, performance-, quality-, and process-related quantitative performance indicators that demonstrate release readiness
  • Conduct literature reviews to ensure consistency with industry best practices and standards
  • Monitor safety, performance and quality trends and work with relevant partners to identify corrective actions for performance improvements
  • Monitor process-related performance and work with Engineering Quality to identify corrective actions for process improvements
  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers, PMO (Program Management Office), and all relevant partners to ensure design, implementation, and programs are on track, and regularly drive consensus among diverse partners on technical projects.
