About The Position

This role is responsible for executing mechanical and reliability testing, developing advanced test methodologies, and ensuring the smooth operation of lab equipment and processes. The position requires hands‑on test execution, data accuracy, and continuous improvement of measurement techniques to support package technology development. As a key technical contributor, the role collaborates closely with cross‑functional engineering teams, provides real‑time insights, and supports root-cause investigations. The position also interfaces with vendors to evaluate new materials and equipment, integrates new tools into workflows, and maintains clear documentation and technical communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of Support Engineering or related work experience.
  • Associate's degree and 3+ years of Support Engineering or related work experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 4+ years of Support Engineering or related work experience.
  • Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience.

  • Hands‑on experience with reliability and mechanical test equipment, such as: - Thermal Cycling Chambers (TC) - Drop shock test system - Instron or Universal Testing Machines (UTM) - High‑speed Data Acquisition (DAQ) Systems
  • Familiarity with metrology and inspection equipment, such as: - Optical Microscopes & Digital Microscopy - X‑ray inspection or CT systems
  • Experience with FA (Failure Analysis) tools, including: - Cross‑sectioning tools, polishing systems - Acoustic microscopy (C‑SAM) - Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM)

Responsibilities

  • Set up, calibrate, and operate mechanical/reliability test equipment
  • Execute test plans and collect accurate, repeatable data
  • Maintain test stations, fixtures, and instrumentation
  • Develop and validate new test methodologies
  • Improve measurement accuracy, precision, and throughput
  • Document procedures and train team members
  • Serve as technical liaison with equipment and material vendors
  • Assess new materials, equipment upgrades, and process improvements
  • Lead integration of new tools and fixtures into lab workflows
  • Collaborate with Design, NPI, FA, Thermal, and other teams
  • Provide real-time observations, identify anomalies, and share insights
  • Support debug efforts, root-cause analysis, and correlation studies
  • Maintain test logs, SOPs, and equipment documentation
  • Prepare clear written reports and share findings
  • Communicate risks, trends, and technical insights proactively
