About The Position

As a Senior Supply Planner for PMO (Precision Machining Operation) , you will be responsible for creating, sequencing, and managing the machining production schedule s to meet customer service levels, on-time delivery, and inventory targets while optimizing utilization of constrained resources (machines, tooling, labor/skills, fixtures). The role integrates finite capacity scheduling, monthly/quarterly rough-cut capacity planning (RCCP), and exception management across machines and secondary operations. This position serves as the control point between finished good supply planning, procurement, manufacturing, quality, and engineering . This is an onsite position in Largo, FL.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ years in production scheduling or planning
  • 2+ years experience within a machining or discrete manufacturing environment (CNC milling/turning, multi-axis, grinding, CMM/inspection)

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics) and finite-capacity scheduling/APS modules is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of routing & BOM structures, setup/run standards, and work center calendars.
  • Proficiency in capacity analysis (RCCP), constraint management (TOC/DBR), and lead-time compression techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and communicate trade-offs across Operations, Sales, and Supply Chain.
  • APICS/ASCM certifications (CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent is preferred.
  • Competence with Excel/Power BI or similar analytics tools for schedule visualization and KPI reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Convert the finished good supply plan into finite-capacity shop schedules by work center/machine, sequencing for minimal changeover, balanced load, and adherence to due dates.
  • Manage daily constraints (machine downtime, tooling breaks, skill coverage, quality holds, material availability) and re-sequence work promptly to protect promise dates.
  • Coordinate with Quality and Engineering on deviations, rework routings, and NC dispositions to minimize schedule impact.
  • Track WIP movement and achieve planned start/finish dates; lead daily tier meetings with machining supervisors to align priorities
  • Perform material, labor and capacity reviews in conjunction with other factory management personnel as part of the ongoing production planning/release process. Surface and help drive the resolution of issues as they arise.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure position to inventory goals are maintained and inventory turns continue to improve.
  • As required, compile and publish priorities for production in relation to finished good assembly needs and back order and ensure priorities are communicated and followed through execution.
  • Ensure work orders are released in a timely manner by the established factory process (discrete planned MRP workorders, visual review, etc.) to meet established aggregate goals.
  • Participate in the establishment of factory production goals through the monthly Resource Requirements Planning (RRP) process.
  • Routinely review lot sizes, kanban’s, min/max, etc. to ensure the sizing is reasonable based on current production volumes and planning methodologies.
  • Review and implement routine engineering change orders.
  • Support m aint enance of accurate standard times, routings, and calendars with Industrial Engineering to reflect reality (setup, run, preventive maintenance, holidays).
  • Work on other special projects as assigned.
  • Collaborate with Buyers/Planners on critical material constraints (bar stock, castings/forgings, inserts, coolant, specialty alloys) to align planned order release with lead times.
  • Coordinate with Outside Processing (OP) providers (anodize, heat treat, coatings) to synchronize schedules and transit times.
  • Own scheduling data integrity in ERP/MES: lead-time, batch sizes, calendars, queue times, and constraints.
  • Use finite scheduling tools (ERP APS module or third-party) and visual management (Gantt charts, heijunka boards) for transparency.
  • Analyze plan vs. actuals (start/finish adherence, cycle times, changeover durations) and drive CI actions (SMED, bottleneck exploitation, alternate routings).
  • Create what-if scenarios for expedites , machine downtime, or demand surges; propose trade-offs (service vs. efficiency vs. inventory).

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation
  • Excellent healthcare including medical, dental, vision and prescription coverage
  • Short & long term disability plus life insurance -- cost paid fully by CONMED
  • Retirement Savings Plan (401K) -- CONMED matches your contributions dollar for dollar, with the potential for up to 7% per pay period
