Visit us at packaging.toppan.com Summary Description: The Senior Supplier Quality - Manufacturing leads the supplier quality function across the manufacturing organization. This role helps define the long-term supplier quality strategy, builds scalable processes, and ensures the supply base can support the company’s growth, regulatory requirements, and product quality expectations. The Supplier Quality Manager ensures that all externally sourced materials, components, and services used in the manufacturing process meet required standards for safety, performance, and reliability. This role leads supplier qualification, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives that directly impact production efficiency, scrap rates, product quality, and customer satisfaction. The position works cross‑functionally with Procurement, Engineering, Operations, and Production to maintain a robust manufacturing supply base.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in quality, manufacturing, supplier quality, or related roles, with at least 3–5 years in people leadership.
  • Proven experience developing supplier quality strategies in a mid‑size or large manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex supplier improvement, global supply chain, or NPI programs.
  • Skills Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Mastery of quality engineering methods: PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, DOE, 8D.
  • Experienced in QMS systems, supplier portals, and data analytics tools.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Ability to influence cross‑functional teams and external suppliers to drive improvements.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with strong attention to detail.

  • Professional certifications (ASQ CQE, CQA, CMQ/OE, Six Sigma Black Belt) highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supplier Quality Strategy & Process Control Develop and manage the supplier quality program aligned with corporate goals, manufacturing roadmap and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Establish quality standards and supplier scorecards aligned to production requirements.
  • Partner with Quality, Engineering and Manufacturing to define critical-to-quality (CTQ) parameters and ensure supplier processes are capable of meeting them.
  • Ensure supplier processes are monitored and controlled using SPC, capability studies, and standardized work.
  • Define the governance model for supplier quality, including policies, standards, KPIs, and escalation procedures.
  • Lead supplier risk management, including geopolitical, capacity, compliance, and quality risk assessments.
  • Supplier Quality Systems & Program Management Establish scalable processes for supplier selection, qualification, onboarding and ongoing surveillance.
  • Evaluate new suppliers based on manufacturing capability, process stability, capacity, and quality performance.
  • Oversee, capability studies, process validations, and run-at-rate activities for new or changed supplier components.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to develop and improve manufacturing processes, tooling, and quality controls.
  • Develop and maintain the supplier quality management system (SQMS global supply chain processes.
  • Lead projects such as supplier consolidation, dual sourcing, or new product introduction (NPI) supply readiness.
  • Set and manage supplier performance targets (PPM, OTD, NCR closure times, audit scores, etc.) across the global supply base.
  • Lead the escalation strategy for critical suppliers and ensure sustainable corrective actions through robust problem‑solving methodologies (8D, DMAIC, root cause verification).
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives that improve process capability, reduce variability, lower defect rates, and enhance manufacturing efficiency.
  • Supplier Development & Capability Building Build and lead a formal supplier development program that elevates supplier manufacturing maturity, quality systems, and technical competency.
  • Engage directly with strategic and high-risk suppliers to strengthen process control, quality planning, and capacity expansion.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-quality (DFQ) reviews that reduce supplier risk before launch.
  • Support sourcing decisions by evaluating supplier capability, technology roadmaps, and long-term fit.
  • Incoming Material Quality Management Collaborate with the plant quality team to disposition nonconforming material and ensure timely containment.
  • Monitor supplier PPM, defect trends, and incoming quality metrics to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Compliance & Audit Oversight Ensure supplier compliance with applicable industry standards such as GFSI, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100, or other manufacturing regulations.
  • Lead supplier audits (process audits, systems audits, production readiness assessments).
  • Maintain documentation for supplier audits, PPAP approvals, corrective actions, and regulatory filings.
  • Oversee supplier audit strategy (system, process, product, and readiness audits) and maintain audit schedules, findings management, and certification support.
  • Provide reporting on supplier quality health, trends, risks, and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaboration & Leadership Serve as the main interface between suppliers and internal engineering, production, and quality teams.
  • Lead cross-functional meetings on supplier performance and improvement initiatives.
  • Train internal teams on supplier quality processes, and quality standards.
