About The Position

As a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer you will perform several supplier quality activities including audits/assessments, surveys, inspections, oversight, and verification at Westinghouse supplier facilities. You will be part of the APX Supplier Quality Team with a specific focus on suppliers providing ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel (B&PV) Code materials and components for the AP1000 Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS). You will report to the Sr. Manager, Supplier Quality NSSS. This is a remote position based in the United States.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • 4+ years of experience as a Supplier Quality Professional or similar role is required.
  • Audit and supplier source surveillance experience is required.
  • Experience operating within a formal quality management system (ISO 9001, AS9100, ASME NQA-1) is required
  • Valid passport (or ability to obtain one) is required, as is ability to travel internationally.
  • 40-50% travel per month is required.

Nice To Haves

  • NQA-1 Certified Lead Auditor experience is desirable.
  • Proficiency in using several inspection tools like calipers, gauges, micrometers, and specialized testing equipment (IM&TE) is desirable.
  • Competency with generating, reviewing, approving, and archiving electronic quality documents and records.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement supplier surveillance and oversight plans to ensure compliance with quality and technical standards.
  • Resolve supplier quality issues which adversely impact product quality.
  • Perform independent assessments and oversight to confirm that suppliers have established, implemented, and maintained an effective quality management system that ensures nuclear safety-related and/or ASME B&PV Code Section III materials, and components meet all quality, regulatory, and customer requirements specified in purchasing documents.
  • Monitor progress to achieve established quality goals within budgetary and schedule constraints.
  • Create certification documents, which identify the procurement requirements met by the purchased material or equipment, such as codes, standards, and other specifications imposed by Westinghouse Customers, for major equipment and components.
  • Lead assessments of the global supply base to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, codes and standards.
  • Evaluate supplier quality plans and processes to verify compliance with quality and technical requirements defined by Westinghouse Engineering.
  • Apply advanced quality control techniques and statistical methods for collection of deficiency information to identify failure causes and trends, rate performance and measure the effectiveness of supplier QA programs, and internal processes.
  • Write detailed segments of QA plans/programs according to current U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Westinghouse and customer QA standards for nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.
  • Implement policies on scope and retention requirements of quality assurance documentation.
