About The Position

As an OCS (Optical Circuit Switch) Supplier Quality Engineer, you will work in collaboration with Suppliers, Hardware Designers, Commodity Managers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Data Center teams. You will set and manage OCS component quality and reliability standards, drive supplier factory certification audits, and lead component and manufacturing site qualifications. You will actively manage NPI and sustaining quality, continuous improvements, and ensure lessons learned are actioned back to suppliers and partner teams. You will drive true root cause failure analysis and systemic corrective actions with comprehensive preventative actions. You will extract and analyze data from supplier facilities, Google production lines, and Google data centers to verify performance and drive improvements.Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in manufacturing, quality, reliability or product engineering.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering field.
• 10 years of experience in Quality/Reliability and OCS/Optics technologies.
• Familiarity with optical measurement/inspection techniques and equipment.
• Familiarity with the manufacturing and test processes, common defects, and quality standards for optical components (e.g., lasers, photodetectors, lenses, filters, fiber assemblies, waveguides, ASIC and PCBs with optical interfaces).
• Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing processes for optical assemblies (e.g., active and passive optical alignment, bonding, curing).

Responsibilities

• Manage the supplier quality and reliability for Optical Circuit Switch (OCS) components, from New Product Introduction (NPI) through end-of-life.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives to ensure the OCS supply chain's technical and operational readiness for mass production.
• Drive supplier selection and qualification by conducting on-site audits and serving as the subject matter expert to influence product roadmaps.
• Resolve critical fleet and factory issues by leading suppliers through Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and Failure Analysis (FA) processes.
• Develop, implement, and monitor advanced quality plans and process controls (e.g., FMEA, Cpk, etc.) to drive continuous improvement and maintain supplier partnerships.
