This role will be based in either our Headquarters in New York, NY, or Los Angeles, CA, Boston, MA, Chicago, IL or Dallas, TX. You will demonstrate your engineering skills and by leveraging the firm’s technology centric competitive edge you will work with design engineers, vendors, contractors, and client personnel to design, test, make operational, optimize, and validate Electrical systems in multiple 24x7 mission critical plants, pharmaceutical, healthcare, power generation or similar environments. Job Responsibilities We are seeking a highly skilled Senior - Supervising Electrical Commissioning Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of hands-on commissioning and testing experience across a wide range of building electrical systems. This role requires an expert-level understanding of power distribution, emergency/standby systems, lighting controls, grounding, and electrical protection systems, as well as demonstrated proficiency with field testing tools and procedures. Experience with SKM, Arc Flash studies, and power system modeling is a strong plus.

Requirements

  • 10+ - 12+ years of electrical commissioning or NETA-level testing experience in commercial, industrial, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Strong understanding of NETA testing principles and familiarity with NETA ATS/MTS procedures.
  • Proven hands-on field testing experience across a wide range of electrical systems.
  • Proficient with PQMs, IR cameras, multimeters, and other testing tools.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NETA, IEEE, and related standards.
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and perform fieldwork in active construction environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (preferred).
  • SKM, Arc Flash, and power system modeling experience is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute commissioning activities for electrical building systems, including but not limited to:
  • Power distribution systems (medium voltage and low voltage)
  • Emergency and standby power systems (generators, ATS, UPS)
  • Lighting and lighting control systems
  • Fire alarm interfaces and life-safety electrical components
  • Grounding and bonding systems
  • Protective relays and switchgear
  • Perform hands-on field testing using industry-standard equipment such as:
  • Power quality meters (PQM)
  • Infrared (IR) cameras
  • Multimeters, clamp meters, and other diagnostic tools
  • Circuit analyzers and load banks
  • Develop and execute functional performance test procedures and commissioning plans.
  • Review electrical design documents, submittals, and shop drawings for commissioning considerations and compliance.
  • Identify deficiencies, troubleshoot system performance issues, and work collaboratively with contractors and design teams to develop corrective actions.
  • Prepare commissioning reports, test documentation, issues logs, and close-out packages.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior engineers and field technicians.
  • Participate in project meetings, coordinate with stakeholders, and communicate status updates.
  • Support the development of commissioning standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • (Optional) Contribute to SKM studies, Arc Flash analyses, and power system modeling as needed.
