About The Position

We are hiring! AtkinsRéalis is looking for a Senior Structural Bridge Engineer to join our team in the Jacksonville, FL Urban office to work on a variety of structural engineering projects. This will be an embedded position full-time in our client's office (not remote). The successful candidate for this role can expect to work on the following types of projects : CFX SR 414 Expressway , which is an estimated $365 million 54-span elevated viaduct in Maitland, FL. The maximum span is 300' and the structure is over 9000' long. Broad Causeway Drawbridge Replacement , which is a $220 million high-level fixed water crossing over the Intercostal Waterway near Miami, FL. AtkinsRéalis was selected for Planning, Concept Design, and Post-Design services. Broad Causeway Bridge Replacement PD&E Study | Bay Harbor Islands, FL I-70 FLOYD HILL - If you have ever skied the slopes west of Denver, you likely know the dangerous stretch of Interstate known as Floyd Hill. Our team is designing approximately 6 miles of I-70 to flatten the curves, reduce steep grade, and add lanes. AtkinsRéalis was selected for this $560 million CMGC with segmental concrete bridges and spliced precast girders. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CQOOe5W_FLA Your role Designing bridges and other ancillary structures. Perform design using OpenRoad Modeler. May require some travel to the Main District Lake City office for collaboration with other FDOT staff members. Selects problems for investigation, developing novel approaches and solutions to technical problems. Conducts quality control checks, reviewing calculations, designs, evaluations and specifications developed by design staff for accuracy and completeness, performing on-site inspections and reviews, and conducting or overseeing remedial design work. Keeps abreast of state-of-the-art methods and developments in area of specialization. Recommends changes or improvements to plans and programs. May function as the project manager for routine to semi-complex projects. Responsibilities may include marketing, negotiating contracts, budgeting, financial management, schedule coordination and resources allocation. Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering.
  • This level may be achieved by Engineers with 5-10 years of experience.
  • Strong technical writing and communications skills are expected at this level.

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred.
  • PE Preferred, not required.
  • Experience with OpenBridge Modeler (OBM) preferred; Not an expert but brings working proficiency, collaborates effectively in knowledge sharing environments, and demonstrates a commitment to continued professional development.
  • Open to minimal travel to the Main District Lake City office.
  • FDOT experience is a plus.
