About The Position

Washington University seeks an advancement professional for the position of Senior Strategy Officer. University Advancement strives to advance the mission of the school by creating a culture of philanthropy among alumni, students, faculty, and friends. The Senior Strategy Officer will partner and collaborate as a liaison between the Brown School leadership and generalist gift officers to develop and implement donor strategy and proposals that correspond with the appropriate gift lane. The Senior Strategy Officer will report to the Executive Director of Advancement for the Brown School, a top ranked school of social work that has a rich tradition of excellence in social work and social policy. The Senior Strategy Officer will play a critical role in developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with our mission and goals. This position requires strong leadership and strategic thinking skills, along with the ability to form relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising and a deep understanding of both traditional and innovative fundraising practices. This position is located in St. Louis, MO and the targeted hiring range for this position is $75,200 - $95,000.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership Staffing and Engagement Assist the Executive Director with Dean relationship management and unit liaison. Staff the dean for meetings and or events (local and out of town). Work with board and committee engagement strategy oversight. Implement annual operational plans (events calendar, communication calendar, etc.)
  • Provide guidance and support to the fundraising team, ensuring they have the necessary resources and training to meet their targets.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) and priority development Develop detailed knowledge of key Brown School priorities and the University priorities that align with them. Serve as SME for all opportunities in the Brown School. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in fundraising to ensure the organization remains competitive and innovative.
  • Fundraising Strategy and School Portfolio Management Ensure generalist gift officer colleagues have effective school and program-based strategies. Support unit-based training for gift officers. Assist with driving operational strategy.
  • Create and oversee the implementation of fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives to engage existing and potential donors.
  • Monitor and analyze fundraising metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies and make data-driven adjustments as needed.
  • High-level volunteer and donor engagement and stewardship.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
