About The Position

The Senior Store Manager is a developmental role designed to prepare high-potential retail leaders for future district-level leadership. The SR Store Manager will work closely with experienced District Managers and Regional Directors to learn how to lead a portfolio of retail stores, drive sales and operational excellence, and foster high-performing teams. This role combines hands-on experience, structured learning, and mentorship. The SR SM will be assigned a specific number of stores to support and learn from during the training period. The SR Store Manager will also be based out of one assigned store where they will be responsible for all of the Store Manager duties for that location. If the SR Store Manager is not promoted to a District Manager at the end of the training period, they will transition to a Store Manager role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; High School diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of retail management experience; multi-unit experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and desire to grow into a district-level role.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and retail systems.
  • Willingness to relocate for a District Manager role, travel within the district and work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work in a fragrance-filled environment.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow and support District Managers in leading store teams aligned with Newell Brand Values.
  • Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and training activities across the district.
  • Learn effective coaching techniques and performance management strategies.
  • Assist in fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Observe and support initiatives that drive consistent and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Learn to monitor selling strategies, loyalty programs, and guest engagement efforts.
  • Assist in maintaining visual merchandising standards and brand-aligned store environments.
  • Analyze guest feedback and KPIs under guidance to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Analyze performance of assigned stores, identify trends, and implement strategic action plans to drive results.
  • Ensure operational compliance with company policies, safety standards, and loss prevention practices.
  • Oversee payroll management, scheduling efficiency, and inventory control across assigned stores.
  • Lead initiatives in assigned stores and ensure alignment with corporate goals and directives.
  • Monitor and drive performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and financial targets.
