About The Position

This position is on-site and based in Cupertino, CA . We are open to candidates who are willing to relocate within a reasonable timeframe. We are seeking an experienced Senior SAN Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our enterprise storage infrastructure. While experience with Xsan and/or StorNext is highly desirable, we welcome candidates with deep expertise in any enterprise SAN environment who are eager to apply their skills to our platform.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience administering enterprise SAN environments
  • Strong knowledge of Fibre Channel protocols, topologies, and switch management (Brocade, Cisco MDS, or equivalent)
  • Experience with enterprise storage arrays (e.g., NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage, HPE, IBM, Quantum, or similar)
  • Solid understanding of storage protocols and concepts : FC, iSCSI, NFS, SMB/CIFS, RAID levels, thin provisioning, snapshots, and replication
  • Proficiency with SAN zoning, LUN provisioning, and multipathing (MPIO/PowerPath/DM-Multipath)
  • Experience with storage performance monitoring and tuning
  • Experience with tape-based backup and archive solutions , including tape library management, media rotation, and backup software administration
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals including DNS, VLANs, subnetting, routing, and network troubleshooting as they relate to storage infrastructure
  • Familiarity with Linux and/or macOS server environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Apple Xsan and/or Quantum StorNext shared file systems
  • Experience supporting media & entertainment , broadcast, or post-production workflows
  • Familiarity with high-bandwidth, low-latency storage requirements for video/content workflows
  • Knowledge of metadata controllers and clustered/shared file system concepts
  • Experience with Quantum storage products (StorNext, Artico, Xcellis, tape libraries)
  • Experience administering macOS environments at scale, including system configuration, updates, and endpoint management
  • Familiarity with ACLs (Access Control Lists) and permissions management across multi-platform storage environments
  • Experience with Directory Services (Active Directory, Open Directory, LDAP) for authentication and access management
  • Experience with Jamf Pro or similar MDM/endpoint management platforms for macOS fleet administration
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, Zabbix, New Relic, Datadog, or similar platforms for infrastructure and storage monitoring
  • Certifications such as Brocade Certified Fabric Professional , NetApp NCDA/NCIE , CompTIA Storage+ , or vendor-equivalent
  • Experience with automation/scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell) for storage management tasks
  • Familiarity with cloud storage integration (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid storage architectures
  • Experience with tape libraries and HSM (Hierarchical Storage Management) workflows

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise storage area network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity
  • Monitor and troubleshoot SAN performance issues, connectivity problems, and hardware/software failures
  • Plan and execute storage capacity management, including forecasting growth and recommending upgrades
  • Implement and manage SAN zoning, LUN masking, multipathing, and fabric configurations
  • Administer Fibre Channel (FC) and/or iSCSI storage networks, including switch configuration and management
  • Develop and maintain backup, replication, and disaster recovery strategies for SAN-based storage
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (systems, networking, media/production, security) to support storage needs
  • Create and maintain documentation including architecture diagrams, runbooks, SOPs, and change management records
  • Evaluate new storage technologies and make recommendations for infrastructure improvements
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for critical storage systems
