About The Position

We are seeking a seasoned, forward-thinking technologist to serve as the Technical Lead for Git/Gerrit within Qualcomm’s Engineering Services organization. This role is responsible for the strategy, architecture, modernization, and operational excellence of enterprise-scale source code management and DevOps platforms supporting 20,000+ engineers globally. The Technical Lead will drive next-generation engineering enablement through scalable, secure, and highly available Git/Gerrit and CI/CD ecosystems. This role requires full-time onsite work in San Diego, CA (5 day per week).

Requirements

  • 7+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree.
  • OR 9+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.
  • 10+ years of IT experience with deep expertise in enterprise-scale Git/Gerrit-based source code management systems.
  • Proven hands-on experience deploying, administering, and scaling Git/Gerrit in large, globally distributed environments.
  • Strong background in CI/CD pipelines, automation, and DevOps tooling (e.g., Jenkins, container platforms, configuration management).
  • Demonstrated ability to design and operate highly scalable, distributed systems with strong reliability and security posture.
  • Deep understanding of SDLC, code review workflows, version control best practices, and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash, Ruby, or similar).
  • Proven success leading cross-functional, globally distributed teams and driving complex initiatives to completion.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and architectural design skills, with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills; ability to influence at technical and executive levels.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with risk assessment, release management, and enterprise integration practices.
  • Semiconductor or large-scale engineering organization experience.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based DevOps platforms, modern monitoring and security practices, and AI/ML usage within the DevOps lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture, roadmap, and evolution of Qualcomm’s Git/Gerrit platforms (world’s largest) and integrated DevOps toolchains, aligning with enterprise engineering objectives and industry best practices.
  • Lead platform modernization initiatives, including adoption of contemporary architectures, automation, and AI-enabled developer tooling.
  • Establish and enforce standards and best practices for source control, CI/CD, automation, analytics, and AI workflows.
  • Design and operate fault-tolerant, highly scalable, and secure Git/Gerrit infrastructure supporting mission-critical, global engineering workloads.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and security through robust 24×7 operational support, incident management, and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate existing systems and recommend scalable, cost-effective architectural enhancements.
  • Drive the design and integration of CI/CD pipelines, build and release systems, containerized platforms, and infrastructure-as-code solutions.
  • Leverage automation and data-driven insights to improve developer productivity, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Engineering, IT, and external partners for SCM and DevOps platforms.
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams to gather requirements, prioritize initiatives, and deliver resilient, scalable solutions.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on platform health, roadmap progress, risks, and technical challenges.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a global team of DevOps engineers, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Act as technical lead on complex initiatives—driving design discussions, resolving roadblocks, and ensuring delivery accountability.
  • Develop and deliver training, playbooks, and knowledge assets to promote best practices across the organization.
  • Support M&A integration efforts, including tooling transition planning and execution.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance engineering workflows and platform capabilities.
