Senior/Staff Platform Engineer
About The Position
Our client is a fast-growing, venture-backed fintech company building an AI-native platform to modernize mortgage and lending workflows. Their technology powers billions in loan volume and is designed to automate complex processes, significantly improving efficiency and reducing operational costs for lenders. With strong enterprise traction, a growing customer base, and recent Series B funding, the company is entering a critical scaling phase. Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or backend engineering
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js , especially for building internal tooling or libraries
- Deep experience with AWS infrastructure (compute, networking, storage, security)
- Hands-on experience with Terraform or Pulumi for infrastructure-as-code
- Experience building CI/CD systems and developer workflows
- Strong understanding of observability, reliability, and system performance
- Background in high-growth startups or fast-moving engineering environments
Nice To Haves
- Experience building internal developer platforms (CLIs, SDKs, templates, frameworks)
- Familiarity with modern observability stacks (Datadog, CloudWatch, tracing systems)
- Experience with distributed systems and scaling high-throughput applications
- Strong product mindset — treating infrastructure as a product for internal users
- Combination of startup + big tech experience
Responsibilities
- Design and build internal developer platforms, tooling, and shared libraries to improve engineering velocity
- Own and evolve cloud infrastructure (AWS) using Terraform and/or Pulumi
- Develop backend libraries and SDKs in TypeScript/Node.js to standardize development workflows
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and per-PR ephemeral environments for safe, fast deployments
- Improve system reliability through SLOs, observability, and incident response
- Solve scaling challenges across compute, databases, and distributed systems
- Partner with product engineering teams to create self-serve infrastructure and “paved roads”
