This technical leadership role is part of a high-impact group focused on developing precision coating processes for our next-generation continuous analyte monitoring systems. We work at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, and manufacturing scale-up—bringing together cutting-edge coating technologies and regulated medical device standards. Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering or other related technical discipline
  • Deep expertise in wet thin-film coating technologies, including slot-die, contact, and/or jet dispensing.
  • Skilled in fluid dynamics, rheology, and surface science as applied to coating processes.
  • Hands-on experience with coating equipment setup, tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiar with electro-chemical processes
  • Proficiency includes scaling processes to high-volume manufacturing and integrating with production systems.
  • Familiar with ISO 13485 and FDA GMP requirements for regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Strong analytical skills and use data-driven approaches to optimize process performance.
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator, able to lead cross-functional initiatives and mentor others.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 13+ years related experience or a Master’s degree and 8+ years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 5+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and optimization of wet thin-film coating processes for applying sensitive chemical formulations onto flexible substrates.
  • Evaluate and implement advanced coating technologies such as slot-die, jet/contact dispensing, and other related methods.
  • Design lab-scale coating processes that have a pathway towards high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Establish metrology and process control strategies to ensure coating uniformity, controlled coating thickness, and minimal material waste.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with formulation scientists, equipment engineers, and sensor development teams to ensure robust process integration.
  • Troubleshoot coating defects and drive continuous improvement in yield, throughput, and material utilization.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to Dexcom’s coating technology roadmap.
  • Ensure coating processes meet regulatory standards and support validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ).
