Senior/Staff Platform Engineer
About The Position
Our client is a high-growth, venture-backed B2B software company building a modern platform that reimagines how businesses plan, model, and understand their operations. Their product replaces legacy spreadsheet-driven workflows with a collaborative, scalable system designed for clarity, speed, and alignment across teams. Backed by top-tier investors and trusted by fast-growing technology companies, the team is early enough for meaningful ownership and impact, while having strong product-market fit and real customers at scale. The engineering org is lean, senior, and deeply focused on building high-quality systems that will define the company’s future. This role is being recruited by a third-party agency on behalf of the client.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience, operating at a senior or staff level
- Proven experience designing and scaling production backend systems in fast-moving environments
- Strong foundation in system design, data modeling, and API development
- Demonstrated ownership mindset — comfortable taking ambiguous problems from concept to production
- Experience working at startups or early-stage companies where engineers wear multiple hats
- Track record of improving performance, scalability, or reliability of complex systems
- Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally with product and design partners
Nice To Haves
- Experience leading or significantly influencing large backend or platform initiatives
- Proficiency in Go, Python, or TypeScript (expertise in Go is a strong plus)
- Exposure to infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering responsibilities
- Experience with cloud environments and modern infrastructure tooling (e.g. Kubernetes, GCP, or similar)
- Background working on data-intensive systems or developer-facing platforms
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable backend systems that power a next-generation business planning platform
- Own and influence architectural decisions across core infrastructure, data modeling, and backend services
- Develop highly flexible systems that support complex, multidimensional data and modeling use cases
- Build foundational platform components that enable future product velocity and scale
- Partner closely with product and design teams to translate ambiguous problems into robust technical solutions
- Contribute to infrastructure and developer experience improvements as the platform scales
- Act as a senior technical voice within the team, helping set engineering standards and best practices
- Support team growth through mentorship, technical leadership, and thoughtful collaboration
