About The Position

The Senior Staff Gemologist is responsible for gemstone and estate jewelry review, tracking, and cataloging to maximize efficiency and quality standards critical to Brilliant Earth’s success.  Candidates should have a strong entrepreneurial spirit, desire to work in a socially responsible consumer business, and desire to work with gems and estate jewelry.  Ideal candidates will thrive in a fast-paced startup environment and exhibit impeccable attention to detail and organizational skills. This compensation budget range may be adjusted at any time at the discretion of the company.

Requirements

  • Graduate Gemologist degree preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience working in an inventory/supply chain/production/quality assurance capacity in a jewelry retail or e-commerce environment
  • Highly organized with focus on execution, problem solving, and improving processes
  • Exceptional time management skills and accountability
  • Ability to think critically and adapt quickly in a flexible environment
  • Entrepreneurial spirit/self-starter
  • Strong computer skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Interest in socially and environmentally responsible organizations and products

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with other leaders in the facility, you will review, investigate, and problem solve VIP and high value orders.
  • Coordinate orders across different suppliers, and track status of purchase orders to ensure timely arrival and processing.
  • Coordinate and organize return shipments with both domestic and international suppliers.
  • Evaluate stones from customers and other showrooms in need of repair, cutting, or polishing.
  • Facilitate the process between the repairs department and other jewelry professionals.
  • Track, review, and process gemstone and melee purchase orders with efficiency and high level of accuracy.
  • Maintain strict organization of orders and transactions requiring gemologist review.
  • Work with sales, customer service, and the design team to assist with requirements for sourcing special order gemstones and diamonds.
