Job Summary The Senior Staff Engineer provides technical expertise and helps set architectural direction for the organization. This role works with teams to drive outcomes and support the engineering ecosystem. The Senior Staff Engineer works independently, mentors other engineers, influences technical decisions, and helps set engineering standards for quality, reliability, and scalability. The role is hands-on and focuses on building systems and orchestration frameworks that improve engineering across the enterprise. Responsibilities

  • Architect and design enterprise-level systems and orchestration standards that support organizational-scale needs.
  • Shape and influence the technical vision and long-term architectural direction at both the team and organization levels.
  • Ensure technical decisions align with business goals, system constraints, and long-term strategic priorities.
  • Identify and resolve architectural gaps, inefficiencies, fragmentation, or duplicated efforts across the organization.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and patterns and guide their strategic adoption across the enterprise when appropriate.
  • Contribute directly to design, implementation, performance optimization, and code reviews.
  • Develop high-quality, maintainable, and scalable technical components or frameworks.
  • Establish and drive engineering excellence across all departments, focusing on reliability, resiliency, and system health.
  • Lead debugging and root-cause analysis for complex, multi-platform technical issues.
  • Partner with executive leadership, product, design, and other business units to shape organizational strategy, system boundaries, and solution approaches.
  • Serve as a primary technical advisor during high-level planning, breakdown, and scoping.
  • Communicate enterprise strategies, complex concepts, and decision trade-offs clearly to both technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide Staff and senior engineers, helping them grow in architecture, design, and system ownership.
  • Provide technical feedback and thought leadership that elevates engineering craft across the organization.
  • Promote experimentation, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Champion service-level goals (SLIs/SLOs) and drive system reliability through design principles and operational best practices.
  • Identify risks early and propose actionable solutions.
  • Define and enforce standards around testing, observability, performance, documentation, and maintainability.
