About The Position

Our in-house, remote work opportunity is well-suited for an experienced attorney who is dedicated to the practice of law and committed to excellent customer service! We are looking for a colleague with a strong background in civil litigation defending general liability and commercial motor vehicle accident cases ranging from the simple to complex. This position will handle a wide array of commercial cases, including premises liability, and products liability, motor vehicle liability, and experience in addressing risk transfer issues. The Attorney will work remotely, and make appearances in the Northern Texas area (DFW area) and will be assigned cases in surrounding counties.

Requirements

Minimum of 7 years of legal practice experience handling tort defense cases.
JD from accredited law school and license to practice in the state of Texas.
First-chair jury trial experience is preferred; second-chair jury trial experience is required.
Positive-minded and collaborative team-player attitude.
Strong legal research and writing skills.
Solid MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
Self-directed with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required.

Responsibilities

Independent handling of insurance defense docket of cases in DFW area and surrounding counties from inception through and including trial.
Analyze complex legal and factual issues, conduct extensive and develop well-reasoned legal research.
Independently create and present defense strategies on behalf of clients.
Prepare complex pleadings, written discovery, motions and briefs in support of defense strategies with autonomy.
Attend hearings and other court appearances, depositions, and trial with autonomy.
Partner with our Claims Partners to achieve the best results for our Hartford insured.
Provide effective and timely communications, information, legal advice and other services to clients on legal and factual issues.
Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel with professional diplomacy and discretion.
Facilitate prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases.
Independently prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials, hearings, arbitrations and alternative dispute resolutions.
Research, draft, file and argue substantive motions on behalf of clients.
Attend continuing legal education seminars in order to maintain high level of professional expertise.
