About The Position

With over 10,000 video systems under management worldwide – more than any other video communications service provider – Yorktel has the proven expertise and global reach to deliver enterprise-quality visual communications. Yorktel is currently seeking a Senior Staff Accountant who will be responsible for managing and overseeing all financial activities within the organization. This role involves recommending, designing, and implementing effective financial controls that align with departmental objectives. The Senior Staff Accountant will work independently while consulting with their supervisor on major policy decisions, significant expenditures, and complex or unusual issues.

Requirements

  • Ability to prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and reports on changes in financial position and budget variances.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative team player with a clear understanding of York Telecom’s business operations.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, and/or 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and revenue recognition practices.
  • If permissible by applicable law, may be required as a condition of employment to complete a background check and/or drug test if required by law or by current or future contracts/clients/vendors, etc.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the general ledger, including preparing journal entries, coding invoices, performing account analyses and reconciliations, closing books monthly, and setting up new accounts as needed.
  • Completes various month-end reconciliations.
  • Assists external auditors during year-end by preparing schedules, explaining supporting materials and procedures, and providing other necessary data.
  • Maintains accurate and organized financial records with proper supporting documentation, updating files as necessary.
  • Recommends, designs, and implements department controls to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborates with the Information Management department to ensure proper accounting and management data flow, and initiates system modifications or enhancements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
