About The Position

Coordinates and performs various accounting duties related to the completion of the Financial Close Process. The Senior Staff Accountant's key responsibilities include updating standard costing, analyzing freight costs, balancing inventory accounts, preparing related month-end journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, performing account reconciliations, analytically reviewing general ledger month-end balances and assisting with the preparation of data for internal and external audit requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of related experience required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to GAAP.
  • Knowledge of cost and financial accounting
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • SAP S4/Hanna experience, preferred.
  • Understanding of AS400 (Prism/JDE)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for related areas and others as deemed necessary.
  • Perform general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization. Assist with year-end leases analysis and finalization and property insurance summary.
  • Assist with year-end and quarter end closing and related schedules.
  • Lead Standard annual standard cost setting in collaboration with Supply Chain
  • Update standard cost value in system for new items as required
  • Prepare and update Annual Labor and Overhead rate calculations.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects related to Standard Cost
  • Organize monthly freight reconciliation process, complete freight related processing, and prepare related journal entries.
  • Collaborate with cross function to analyze and book month end activities.
  • Assist with physical inventory preparation, execution, and reporting.
  • Create and maintain training documents for audit
  • Accumulate monthly inventory analysis and prepare journal entries for inventory using multiple systems of source data.
  • Calculate inventory obsolescence reserves to reserve raw materials and packaging inventory that is categorized at risk or planned for destruction.
  • Support inventory cut off as required monthly and quarterly
  • Perform assigned SOX controls in a timely and effective manner.
  • Take appropriate actions should performance of assigned SOX control identify ineffectiveness/non-compliance in addressing the risk the control as required by audit.
  • Prepare audit schedules as needed for internal and external auditors.
  • Coordinate audit processes and follow-up procedures with internal and external auditors.
  • Accumulate SOX control testing support throughout the year.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Support Continuous Improvement Initiatives.
  • Engage in coaching and development for team members across other functions.
  • Create and maintain SOP as required.
