About The Position

The FTI Operations Network Management Engineer requires prior Change Management, Network Management, and network technology experience. This position will directly interface with internal customers, external customers and service providers and report directly to the FTI Chief Operations Engineer. The Network Management Engineer is dedicated to assisting designing, developing, implementing and supporting network fault management systems through network automation technology to identify and remediate configuration issues. The person must have acute attention to detail and is responsible for network management systems interoperability, managing special projects and resolving monitoring issues of the highest complexity in support of network operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of signaling protocols, TDM framing/timing, IP based networks and SONET infrastructure.
  • Experience in Physical layer and routed technologies experience.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews network event data to determine proper reporting system level functionality.
  • Creates detailed documentation and CONOPS that outlines system reporting functionality.
  • Provides oversight of monitoring issues as they arise and determines long term resolutions.
  • Identifies improvement initiatives and see them through to completion.
  • Ownership responsibility of system and service level monitoring.
  • Ensure Operations have proper visibility of network events.
  • Ensures proper ticket generation.
  • Identify tools, systems and automation efficiencies.
  • Supports any monitoring system, software or tool improvements.
  • Provides support and training as necessary.
  • Participates in development and service verification testing of new devices or system designs to ensure monitoring is properly working and documented.
  • Participate in network monitoring software projects to ensure system monitoring is properly working and documented.
  • Development and report on metrics for the performance of the network management system.
  • Provides bi-weekly reports to OPS Engineering manager.
  • Ability to obtain a FAA Public Trust Clearance.
