About The Position

This position is on – site in our Royal Caribbean Production Studios North Miami. The Royal Caribbean Group’s Revenue team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Senior Specialist, Entertainment Technical Performance reporting to the Manager, Entertainment Technical Operations. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Royal Caribbean Production Studios, including creating and monitoring monthly studio rehearsal schedules, aerial planning, and forecasting future studio needs. The Senior Specialist supervises the Studio Floor production staff, covering Audio Visual, Rigging, and the Assistant Floor Supervisor, as well as Rehearsal Stage Managers, overseeing the consistent support of production teams across all rehearsal and install projects within the facility. The position works in collaboration with and under the direction of the Manager, Technical Operations & Integrity on shipboard technical elements, contributing to the development and implementation of fleetwide standards for theatrical technical procedures in shipboard entertainment. It also oversees the ongoing development of production documentation to provide long-term technical sustainability across the fleet.

Requirements

  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to manage last-minute emergencies calmly and effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Box, and Smartsheet; ability to develop forms, databases, and reports including pivot tables.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in virtual conferencing platforms (Zoom, WebEx, Teams).
  • Basic Audio-Visual skills required.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the entertainment industry.
  • Experience working in commercial projects (ie Theater, Movies, Television, etc.).
  • Excellent understanding of policies and procedures regarding work ethics, hiring and termination of personnel.
  • Experience in Microsoft programs - Excel, Word, Smartsheet. Must have good problem-solving skills and ability to manage last minute emergencies in a calm and organized manner.
  • Able to work long hours and weekends when required.
  • Able to travel if required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field preferred.
  • Cruise industry experience both in shipboard and shore side are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and manages studio scheduling grids for all rehearsal spaces, including strategic planning of room usage, timing, and long-range forecasting.
  • Supervises the Studio Floor Team: Studio AV Engineer, Studio Rigging Specialists, AV Assistant, and Assistant Studio Production Manager.
  • Supervises Stage Managers for Musical and Signature Production rehearsals, including contract scheduling, on-site performance assessment, and install preparation.
  • Attends Day One production meetings to confirm all technical needs are in place for first day of rehearsal; coordinates studio support team for video and technical assistance.
  • Supports continuing upgrades to sound equipment across 12 rehearsal rooms and 10 vocal studios.
  • Manages studio props and scenic elements: organization, condition, check-in/out processes, in-house builds, and forecasting of future needs.
  • Manages consumables and production supplies inventory.
  • Maintains and expands the digital rehearsal documentation library, including stage management files, scripts, scores, and music.
  • Ensures all floor team members are current in CPR training and aerial rescue procedures.
  • Supports the development of the Static Rig Training program to reduce ongoing aerial support dependencies.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of standardized technical procedures for all 58 venues across the fleet, under the direction of the Manager, Technical Operations & Integrity.
  • Reviews rehearsal and install reports; provides observations and feedback to the Manager and shoreside teams as needed.
  • Reads nightly show reports and daily TDE reports to assess shipboard support needs; escalates findings and recommends solutions to the Manager, Technical Operations & Integrity.
  • Assists with the development of shipboard technical contingency plans in consultation with the Manager, Technical Operations & Integrity.
  • Supports Stage Manager install projects and maintenance visit processes.
  • Assists in creating fleetwide templates, SOPs, and Smartsheet tracking tools for technical standards rollout and training.
  • Contributes to the development of show calling documentation, show training videos, and backstage track archives for Theater, Two70, Aqua Theater, Aquadome, Studio B, and Absolute Zero venues, covering: Show calling and overall show documentation, Automation cue documentation, Backstage track video archiving, Standards and procedures for backstage show management, Technical issue logging.
  • Participates in monthly shipboard calls with Production Managers and Technical Directors to support review of initiatives, trainings, SOPs, and audits.
  • Conducts shipboard visits as directed to assess and report on technical integrity concerns.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Manager.

  • Procurement of consumables as needed and submitted in concur.
  • Manage maintenance and repairs for props and equipment, and gather quotes for repairs that cannot be completed in-house along with Scenic & Props department.
  • Oversees yearly budget for Studio Floor Operations; manage expenditures for floor team for Manager approval.
  • Oversees floor team Out of Office requests and Vacation time allotment.
  • Assist with purchasing of studio prop replacements as needed.
