Brief Overview of Department The Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Communications team oversees and manages all aspects of communication across the region, including employee communications, reputation management, executive positioning and thought leadership, and internal engagement initiatives. In support of regional business objectives, the team sets the strategic communications agenda and drives its execution in close collaboration with market communications leads and cross-functional partners. Context and Scope of the Role: The Senior Communications Specialist provides operational and executional support to the LAC regional communications team. This support for the internal communications function, including employee engagement, events, and volunteerism across the region. The individual will collaborate closely with the internal comms regional lead, market communications teams, regional stakeholders, and internal partners to deliver consistent, engaging, and effective communications programs. The role requires a highly organized, proactive communicator with strong event and project management skills, creative thinking, and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in communications, internal communications, employee engagement, or a related field
  • Strong event and roject management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Experience managing internal communications channels and digital platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute events, including virtual and hybrid formats
  • Creative, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively across cultures and functions
  • Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Salesforce
  • Digitally savvy and comfortable learning new tools and platforms
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Budget Management o Support and manage the communications budget for the LAC region, including tracking expenses, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring alignment with regional priorities.
  • Employee Communications & Engagement o Support the planning and execution of employee communications events and campaigns, including concept development, messaging, creative direction, and execution. o Design and implement engagement initiatives to drive employee participation and connection, including recognition and giveaway programs.
  • Events & Logistics o Plan and manage logistics for internal and external events, including employee town halls, office events, offsite activities, thought leadership forums, and regional initiatives. o Support broadcast and production of events via Zoom and Microsoft Teams, including coordination, testing, and live execution.
  • Internal Communications Channels o Manage and maintain internal communications platforms, including:  The intranet (The Hub)  Electronic bulletin boards  Salesforce newsletters  Ensure content is timely, accurate, engaging, and aligned with regional messaging priorities. o Ensure content is timely, accurate, engaging, and aligned with regional messaging priorities.
  • Volunteerism & Community Engagement o Lead regional volunteering initiatives and serve as the primary point of contact for volunteerism related activities. o Provide guidance to market communications teams on volunteerism guidelines, donations, and best practices. o Teams with tools, templates, guidance, and best practices as needed.
  • Thought Leadership & Special Projects o Support regional thought leadership initiatives and events, including the Mastercard LAC Innovation Forum. o Contribute to ad hoc communications projects in support of regional priorities.
