Program Overview  The DOS ESDA Program supports the U.S. Department of State, Global Acquisitions (GA) on a high visibility modernization initiative consolidating fragmented governance, sourcing, and platform support into a unified Integrated EDSA Governance & Shared Services Team. This program streamlines decision-making, enhances transparency, and accelerates technology delivery across ServiceNow, SharePoint, Power Platform, and procurement analytics. The Senior Solution Engineer (ServiceNow Developer) will be the program’s primary ServiceNow expert, responsible for maximizing out of the box capabilities, executing secure and scalable configurations, and supporting cross platform needs within a lean, multi-skilled Shared Services team.

Requirements

  • Experience configuring and developing in ServiceNow.
  • Ability to assess requirements and distinguish between OOTB and custom needs.
  • Familiarity with scripting (e.g., JavaScript) in ServiceNow environments.
  • Ability to support troubleshooting, testing, and iterative enhancements.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Power Automate or Power Platform workflows.
  • Experience supporting SharePoint ticket resolution.
  • Exposure to federal environments or enterprise modernization programs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary ServiceNow developer, executing configuration, scripting, and platform enhancements.
  • Maximize ServiceNow Out‑of‑the‑Box (OOTB) functionality and perform Fit/Gap analyses prior to any custom development.
  • Implement required patches, upgrades, and version updates to maintain platform compliance, security and stability.
  • Support the creation of ServiceNow health and utilization reports and other PMO reporting products.
  • Troubleshoot issues and coordinate with PMO governance to ensure work aligns with approved backlog priorities.
  • Cross‑train to support Power Automate workflows and SharePoint items during shifting workload demands.
  • Collaborate with other engineers (SharePoint, Integration, Power Platform) and the Technical Lead to deliver high‑quality solutions across the Shared Services portfolio.
  • Ensure all work adheres to GA’s enterprise platform governance and security expectations.
