About The Position

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager to support our AWACS & Executive Transport Software teams located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma . This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization. Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of software engineers in developing and sustaining mission-critical software for the AWACS & Executive Transport, working closely with hardware engineering, systems engineering, and program management to deliver high-value capabilities on schedule and within budget. This role requires ensuring compliance with Boeing Software Best Practices, Enterprise Software Engineering policies, and BDS requirements while supporting the Cost Account Manager (CAM) and Integrated Product Team (IPT) leadership in executing the statement of work, estimating, planning, and risk management. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience across the full software development lifecycle (requirements, design, implementation, verification, integration, and sustainment), provide strong technical leadership and mentorship, and cultivate a motivated, accountable team culture. A practical mastery of Agile/SAFe practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated build and test frameworks, and configuration, security, and safety management is essential to enable repeatable, reliable delivery; the manager will also define and track key performance indicators (quality, velocity, defect rates, test coverage), mitigate technical risks, communicate status and decisions to stakeholders, and recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent to ensure long-term program success.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience with software development
  • 3+ years of experience as a project manager of software development projects
  • Experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Experience in Agile, Scaled Agile Frameworks (SAFe), and DevOps
  • Experience in Automation and CI/CD techniques and design patterns
  • Experience developing software for real-time embedded systems
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim U.S. Secret Clearance Pre-Start and final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with real-time embedded multiprocessor programs and/or user interface development programs
  • Experience with DevOps practices such as continuous integration and continuous deployment, configuration management, security analysis and cloud computing
  • Experience with developing commercial or military safety critical software (DO-178B/C, MIL-HDBK-516C)
  • Experience working in an IPT structure as part of a larger cross-functional product team

Responsibilities

  • Manages employees and first-level managers performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Software Engineering
  • Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives
