The Senior Software Engineer will lead the delivery of scoped features and models through collaborative teams, ensuring alignment with platform and business objectives. This role involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable software solutions using modern programming languages and AI/LLM integration. The position requires strong technical judgment, continuous improvement, and effective communication with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable solutions. The engineer will also support DevOps practices, code quality, and mentoring efforts to drive innovation and operational excellence within Walmart’s technology environment. Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer building scalable applications.
  • Full-stack development expertise.
  • Strong proficiency in Java and Python for Backend Development.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript for Frontend Development.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, APIs, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Experience or strong interest in AI/LLM-powered technologies, including agentic AI applications.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining us as we continue to create accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and scale full-stack applications supporting digital advertising platforms.
  • Develop and integrate backend services and APIs used across web and app experiences.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and engineering partners to deliver high-impact features.
  • Apply best practices across CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and cloud-native development.
  • Leverage AI-powered capabilities to enhance platform intelligence and efficiency.
