About The Position

This role is for the Platform Productivity squad, which focuses on enabling internal engineers to release software onto the company's infrastructure securely and measurably. They lead automation of release processes, including CI/CD and bootstrapping, and assist engineering teams in adopting these processes using 'golden path' techniques, while also supporting edge cases and maximizing tool utilization. The Platform Team supports teams building observability tools like Grafana, Mimir, Loki, and Tempo. The squad sets its own roadmap, and team members contribute to maintaining, improving, extending, and gracefully sunsetting systems.

Requirements

Engineering/software development experience within a Platform group delivering services to internal engineering teams
Experience working in a cloud environment
Infrastructure as Code with Terraform/Crossplane
Familiarity with Kubernetes administration
Experience/Interest in implementing, integrating, and maintaining observability systems and processes

Responsibilities

Help internal engineers release their software onto our infrastructure, in secure and measurable ways
Lead automation of the release processes (anywhere from CI/CD to bootstrapping)
Help internal engineering teams get on board with release processes using ‘golden path’ techniques
Help edge cases and make sure that teams can get the most out of our tools
Maintain, improve and extend what we already have
Be involved in choosing what we focus on next and, just as importantly, when and how to gracefully sunset systems which are no longer needed
Help the team to design, compare, and choose appropriate solutions for Development and maintenance of our Internal Engineering Platform (IEP)
Help the team to design, compare, and choose appropriate solutions for CI/CD platform management and development
Help the team to design, compare, and choose appropriate solutions for Build, release and deployment automation
Help the team to design, compare, and choose appropriate solutions for Application configuration management tooling
Help the team to design, compare, and choose appropriate solutions for “Up to date” software automation
Help the team to design, compare, and choose appropriate solutions for Artefact management
Work with diverse internal teams, from application development to security, to support implementation of their requirements
Be part of an on-call rotation to support Platform tooling
