The Custody team develops secure, scalable, and dependable digital custody solutions. We are a group of engineers passionate about building systems that empower our customers and their assets. Our team is committed to excellence, leveraging deep domain expertise in distributed systems, security, and blockchain to solve complex challenges and deliver outstanding service.
About the role
As a Senior Engineer on the Custody team, you will play a key role in architecting, building, and maintaining Paxos’ crypto custody infrastructure and applications. You’ll use your deep technical expertise and hands-on skills to deliver secure and scalable solutions, collaborating closely across functions to help shape our technological direction and execute complex projects.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Golang or Java preferred; Kotlin, Rust, Python, or C++ also valued.)
• Solid foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and distributed system design.
• Experience building and maintaining cloud-native services using tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, and AWS.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, especially in production environments.
• Excellent collaboration and communication abilities; able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• A passion for innovation and driving technical solutions to real-world problems.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working on high-throughput, low-latency systems, trading infrastructure, cryptography, or custody platforms is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain mission-critical custody systems across multiple blockchains.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, compliance, and infrastructure to define system architecture and technical requirements.
• Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of our services through best practices in software design, testing, and deployment.
• Optimize existing issuance infrastructure to enhance performance, reduce latency, and improve operational efficiency.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Stay informed about emerging trends in blockchain, distributed systems, security, and financial technology to drive innovation within the team.
• Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical decision-making processes.
