About The Position

We work with both new and current technology, creating innovative solutions to solve complex, large-scale challenges and deliver player value. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll own and deliver important features and model best practices within the team. As a Senior Software Engineer, Audio on an unpublished R&D product, you will lead the development and delivery of features and tools underpinning the audioscape for one of Riot’s most exciting new games. You will work closely with sound designers, producers, and other engineers to gather requirements and execute against the vision for the team’s audio tooling, and will be hands-on in conceptualizing, planning, implementing, and maintaining the tools that power audio workflows. You will work with state-of-the-art technology, and explore new solutions to surprise and delight our players as we bring this new game to life. You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager of the Tech Foundations team within the R&D game project.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of gameplay development experience in a C-style game engine (Unreal Engine, Unity, etc)
  • 3+ years working on audio tools and features
  • Proficiency in C++
  • Direct experience with audio middleware such as Wwise, FMOD, Unreal Audio
  • Experience in Unreal Engine
  • BS in Computer Science, or proven understanding of Computer Science fundamentals
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient with modern day audio software tools (Pro-Tools, Reaper, Plugins)
  • Experience working on a networked game
  • Experience with UE4 and/or UE5
  • Experience developing and shipping a AAA title
  • Experience with Agile development

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the audio team to deliver tools that are purpose-driven, robust, and scalable
  • Implement and support foundational elements of the game’s audio ecosystem and tools
  • Work with design and engineering leads to help define the team’s future vision for audio tooling and workflows
  • Model the team’s best practices for tools architecture and implementation
  • Advocate for the technical vision for upcoming and existing tools with other disciplines
  • Provide documentation and trainings on new audio tools and workflows to internal customers
  • Mentor junior engineers as the team scales
