About The Position

The UW Medical Center-Northwest Social Work Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Social Worker to join us in our new Center for Behavioral Health and Learning building. ABOUT THE CENTER FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND LEARNING The new Center for Behavioral Health and Learning, opening on the UW Medical Center – Northwest campus in 2024, offers an unparalleled opportunity to transform mental health care and to improve mental health care training in our state. Located in North Seattle, the new facility will feature 75 longer-term adult psychiatry beds, 25 geriatric psychiatry beds, 50 medical/surgical beds focused on patients with psychiatric comorbidities, and a state-of-the-art neuromodulation program. It will also house an interdisciplinary training and workforce development program focused on preparing and supporting the next generation of behavioral health providers for Washington State. The six-story building will be a beautiful place to work with lots of windows, natural lighting and open-concept spaces and will offer amenities including a new kitchen and dining area for patients, staff and visitors.

Requirements

  • A Master of Social Work Degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and one year of full-time social work experience in a health care setting or equivalent. Experience can include a practicum placement as part of a social work training program and/or employment experience.
  • LEGAL REQUIREMENT: Within 90 days of hire must hold one of the following credentials issued by the state of Washington:
  • Agency Affiliated Counselor
  • Licensed Social Work Associate -Advanced
  • Licensed Social Work Associate - Independent Clinical
  • Licensed Advance Social Worker
  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialty consultation to other health care staff and health care teams regarding psychosocially focused aspects of client/patient care
  • Provide psychosocial support to patients and families
  • Complete clinical assessments as per department standards for area of service
  • In collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, develop and implement safe and timely discharge plans
  • Provide care coordination for patients with complicated social and medical histories
  • Provide case management and counseling services in specialized programs
  • Make timely referrals to hospital and community agencies, including those required by mandatory reporting laws such as child and vulnerable adult abuse
