This Position reports to: Service Team Leader In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work of medium to high complexity as per work instructions and ABB guidelines. Each day, you will deliver excellent customer service to satisfy customers. You will also showcase your expertise by working with customer to identify opportunities in the installed base, to improve system performance and operational performance. This Senior Service Engineer will work from Des Moines, IA. The work model for the role is: #LI - Remote This role is contributing to the ABB Electrification Division – Services Function. Main stakeholders are both our external and internal customers. You will be mainly accountable for:

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 10 additional years of related engineering / field experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of field engineering experience.
• Ability and willingness to travel approximately 75% as required.
• Knowledge of industrial customer base in geographical area.
• Technical skills in testing of power distribution and delivery to include Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Breakers, Switchgear, Relays and Transformers.
• Experience in the repair and refurbishment of LV and MV circuit breakers (OEM equipment such as Siemens, GE, ABB, SquareD, Multilin relays, and Schweitzer Relays).
• Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

Nice To Haves

• Technical skills in testing, commissioning, startup and troubleshooting of medium voltage synchronous machines (including excitation systems), controls systems and Programmable Logic controllers a plus.

Responsibilities

• Providing knowledge of and conduct work activities in compliance with the ABB HSE (Health, Safety and Environment), ABB Way, and Safety Manual & Safety policy at all times.
• Responsible for hands-on execution of projects including Startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, engineering, design, and repair of Power Delivery equipment in respective area; Power Delivery includes transformers, switchgear, OCBs, Circuit Breakers, busways, UPS, ATS, PLCs, Relays, Power Management Controls systems and other Power related equipment & controls.
• Leading outages with other field engineers, technicians, and contractors including project management, lead site engineer or site project manager. Perform administrative functions such as writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheet, and expense sheets on a complete timely, and thorough basis.
• Planning, organizing, and performing multifunctional field assignments in designated areas of expertise, directing the work of other field engineers and craft labor as required, in a timely and efficient manner.
• Developing and further expanding technical knowledge and expertise, currently recognizing industry standards for engineering ability.
• Planning preparing, and/or instructing both internal and external training programs as required, to impart and perpetuate field engineering and/or product knowledge in area of specialization.
• Performing administrative functions in a timely manner that are associated with your work; such as writing technical reports, ordering necessary materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheets, expense tracking sheets, and cost control activities. Such tasks must be completed on a timely, and thorough basis.

• While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $79,800 and $127,680 annually.
