The right Senior Officer checklist will include equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator. This role exists as an entry level leadership position to protect people and property, maintain a peaceful, fun-filled and safe atmosphere while enforcing Security procedures at all Dollywood Company Properties. The Senior Security Officer will work with their shift leadership to assist in the daily operations for the Security Department. They will fill in as the Corporal or Sergeant in the absence of their direct leaders and at the direction of the Security Manager. These responsibilities will be performed in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, operating philosophies, and standards of the Dollywood Company. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to display and live out Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience working successfully in a similar role. Preference will be given to candidates with prior Law Enforcement or Security related experience
  • Must be able to meet the qualifications to be certified as a Security Officer by the State of Tennessee, licensed by the Department of Commerce & Insurance Private Protection Services as prescribed by the Tennessee Code Annotated 62-35 Act of 1922 (See attachments TCA 62-35-116, TCA 62-35-117)
  • Must be able to meet the qualifications to be certified as a Security Trainer by the State of Tennessee, licensed by the Department of Commerce & Insurance Private Protection Services as prescribed by the Tennessee Code Annotated 62-35 Act of 1922 (See attachments TCA 62-35-116, TCA 62-35-117)
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age
  • Must have the capability to develop the skills in the use and care of various firearms
  • Must possess valid Tennessee driver’s license and have state required auto insurance
  • First Aid and C.P.R. certification required or ability to obtain a certification in a timely manner
  • Must be able to meet the same requirements as a police officer for the State of Tennessee
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must successfully complete a post-employment offer background check and drug screen
  • Must be able to pass a credit check
  • Must not have been convicted of or pleaded guilty to or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony charge or to any violation of any federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor and other alcoholic beverages or controlled substances
  • Must not have been released or discharged under any other than honorable discharge from any of the armed forces of the United States
  • Must be willing to be fingerprinted by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation or already have fingerprints on file with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation
  • Must have good moral character as determined by a thorough investigation conducted by the employing agency; and/or the POST Commission
  • Must be certified by a Tennessee Licensed Health Care Provider qualified in the psychiatric or psychological fields as being free from any impairment, as set forth in the current edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) of the American Psychiatric Association at the time of the examination that would, in the professional judgement of the examiner, affect the person’s ability to perform an essential function of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all Security Officers assigned to the team in the absence of the Shift Sergeant and Corporal
  • Assist the Shift Leaders with creating work schedules for the team
  • Assist the Shift Leaders with creating shift assignments and approving breaks.
  • Communicate with the officers on the team and keep them informed of any new or changed operating procedures and policies
  • Coach and train officers on the team in a manner consistent with Leading with Love guidelines
  • Ensure that all applicable Dollywood policies and procedures are followed
  • Able to assist Guests and Hosts through a variety of situations and calls for assistance during shift
  • Assist with paperwork, reports, and logs on his/her team to ensure they are complete and accurate
  • Must be able to assist in the development and implementation of new programs or initiatives from team leadership
  • Perform officer shift duties when not filling in for leadership on duty
  • Respond to Guest and Host calls for assistance related to vehicle issues
  • Assist in the transportation of, and escorting of Hosts in possession of, company funds according to cash handling procedures
  • Assist the Safety-First Aid Department as assigned
  • Assist with fire and flood prevention
  • Able to maintain control and communicate effectively when directing people and vehicle traffic flows on Company property
  • Control park access at Host and service entrances
  • Respond and assist with service calls related to animal/ wildlife control following all Safety policies
  • Enforce Parking standards, issuing citations for inappropriately parked Host vehicles
  • Monitor Fire Suppression Systems and Park alarm systems
  • Maintain safe work environment by patrolling buildings, Guest and Host parking lots and various areas on Company property
  • Patrol Guest and Host parking lots
  • Provide Dignitary Protection Services for visiting celebrities
  • Respond to calls for service regarding unruly Guests/Hosts
  • Respond to calls for service, i.e.; shoplifting, burglary and theft
  • Reunite lost persons on park
  • Take possession of lost property and returning same to Lost & Found
  • Management reserves the right to change and/or add to these duties at any time
