Senior Scientist/Principal Scientist, ADC Biology & Biomarker Discovery

Hexagon BioMenlo Park, CA
1d$150,000 - $200,000

About The Position

Hexagon Bio leverages a genomics-based platform and understanding of natural product evolution to develop next-generation antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) with novel payloads for cancer. We use data science, genomics, machine learning, synthetic biology, and automation to discover potent, evolutionarily refined small molecules from microbial genomes, and apply medicinal chemistry to optimize these molecules into truly transformative medicines. Hexagon Bio is seeking a highly skilled Senior Scientist/Principal Scientist to support the development and characterization of next-generation ADCs featuring novel natural-product payloads. This position is a combination of hands-on laboratory execution to support in vitro to in vivo translation, large data analysis to inform clinical indication, and CRO management to drive efficacy and safety studies in different species. You will contribute to bridge the gap between laboratory discoveries and clinical settings. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in cancer cell biology and in vivo pharmacology, an understanding of in vivo activity and exposure relationships , and a demonstrated ability to think critically, multi-task, troubleshoot assays, and interpret data. We seek innovative and collaborative team members who thrive in fast-paced environments and are motivated by our mission to transform cancer therapeutics with first-in-class drugs.

Requirements

  • PhD in Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, Chemical Biology, or a related field.
  • 4-7+ years of biotech/pharma experience.
  • Experience in leading CRO campaigns to completion on timelines with high quality study data
  • Experience generating and analyzing experimental datasets to support in vivo and ex-vivo model selection
  • Deep understanding of efficacy and PK/PD drug relationships to help guide clinical decisions
  • Proficiency with multicolor flow cytometry is ideal
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in cross-functional teams, and to positively partner with team members to move projects to completion

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading safety studies is a plus
  • Experience supporting ADCs, or targeted oncology programs, is a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Design, execution, and interpretation of in vivo pharmacology studies to assess efficacy, safety, PK/PD relationships in multiple species
  • Experience with computational methods to support integration and analysis of large data sets (proteomic, gene expression, or IHC), to drive model selection and translational research
  • Develop plans for pharmacodynamic/safety assessment of tissue biomarkers and execute assays to guide clinical decision
  • Drive late stage in vivo efficacy studies, including PDX studies and ex vivo patient tissue screening, to guide clinical decisions on lead ADCs
