About The Position

Entegris is seeking a Senior Scientist to join its Analytical Services team in Bloomington, MN. This role involves the development of new testing methodologies, execution of laboratory testing, and supporting instrument application development for our optical particle-sizing and chemical concentration instrumentation products: - AccuSizer® single particle optical sizing systems and Nicomp® Nano dynamic light scattering systems, which are employed across industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, ink production, and contamination control. - SemiChem Advanced Process Monitor system facilitating automated sampling, analysis, and quantitative chemical concentration monitoring for semiconductor applications. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong track record in translating new applications into standardized laboratory methods, possess a results-oriented approach, and exhibit excellent communication skills.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess a BS degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience, Master of Science degree with a minimum of three years of relevant industry experience, or a PhD with relevant experience in the field of analytical chemistry. Equivalent work experience that demonstrates competency in this area is also acceptable.
  • Experience in analytical instrumentation method development and validation is required.
  • The ability to troubleshoot instrumentation performance issues is essential.
  • Candidates must be detail-oriented and possess strong technical communication skills.
  • The role requires the ability to adhere to deadlines, multitask, and prioritize work as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally is required.
  • Successful candidates should be self-motivated, able to independently solve problems, and demonstrate the ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Additionally, preferred candidates will have experience with automated titration and optics-based instrumentation.
  • Experience in slurry chemical and particle analysis is considered an advantage.
  • Familiarity with a range of analytical instrumentation, including Ion Chromatography (IC), Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), is beneficial.
  • Experience with Labware Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is also desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Laboratory Operations Support day-to-day laboratory functions by performing sample preparation and analysis in strict accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and all relevant safety protocols. Ensure all laboratory tasks are completed efficiently and accurately to maintain the highest quality standards.
  • Instrumentation Management Operate, calibrate, and maintain a variety of analytical instruments essential to laboratory operations. Responsible for ensuring that all equipment is functioning properly and maintained according to manufacturer guidelines and internal procedures.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting Analyze collected data thoroughly, draw meaningful conclusions, and communicate results clearly. Prepare detailed reports that are suitable for internal review as well as for presentation to external customers, ensuring accuracy and clarity in all documentation.
  • Applications Design and Testing Assess the feasibility of new customer applications by developing, validating, and designing appropriate experimental methods. Play a key role in the innovation and implementation of new analytical procedures tailored to meet customer needs.
  • Evaluation of New Technologies Evaluate emerging particle and chemical analysis technologies and analytical equipment. Develop and implement test methods to assess new technologies and compare results across different instruments.
  • Reagent and Material Validation Perform ongoing validation of Certificates of Analysis for incoming reagents and materials. Ensure that all laboratory inputs meet required specifications, maintaining the integrity and reliability of testing outcomes.
  • Method Improvement Drive continuous improvement initiatives for existing testing methods and procedures. Identify opportunities for optimization and implement changes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and safety in laboratory practices.
  • Professional Development Participate in continuous training on a range of analytical techniques and methods. Strive to develop subject matter expertise in various particle sizing and concentration analytical techniques to remain at the forefront of advancements in the field.
